bill88 6 Posted November 27, 2007 Report Share Posted November 27, 2007 If the dog is active,he'll need more than just chicken.Chicken is alright as a maintenance feed,but isn't enough on its own for a working dog.Try adding some red meat,breast of lamb,ox heart,shin of beef,are all pretty cheap.Try asking your butcher for some meaty bones as well.If you have a morrisons near by try there,they sell lamb bones for pennies. bill88 6 Posted November 29, 2007 Report Share Posted November 29, 2007 Ox heart, beef heart,same thing (good point why do they call ox tail, ox tail,and not beef tail)Not sure if it would fatten a dog up,as its very lean,with just a bit of fat on the outside,but it is very rich.My dogs love it,and i've tried it myself (cooked) and its not too bad at all.
