lurchers 2,882
I would ask anyone who knows of better pups closer to WIRRAL to post on this thread or any info on the pups above,it may save me a long journey, my main thing is bushing and ferreting and would consider an older pup just starting if it helps anybody,WM Dont let the pic of the sire put you off mate if thats the breeding you want as the pic does the dog no justice.my beddiexgrey bitch stands like that now and again but doesnt put her off from jumping all over you and keen to chase mate.atb 1 Quote Link to post

Plucky1 1,119
WM how come you don't breed your bitch and keep a pup back seems like the best option in the long run surely. Know you had a pup off my uncle what didn't work out and always best to stick to what you know does the business. Any breeding is a gamble but at least you know half the breeding inside out, sure a similar type would through decent bunny dogs atb with your plans and you know more than me just seems a waste when you rate her so highly atb Hello Matt, hope your dads well and tell him hello from me, your question is real easy for me to answer due to fractional genetics, you only have to look at the pup off your uncles matchdog,he was special but as I seen it nothing was ever bred of his calibre from him, you cannot reproduce lurcher/lurcher matings with any certainty due to the amount of breeds in the mix,its easy to do a first or second cross or even a 5/8 X 3/8,after that its in the lap of the gods, even if it worked in a previous mating the matter of how the genetics fall is a gamble at best, I would of loved a pup off my bitch but the chances are I would of been disappointed, I have re-homed her now with a lovely young family where she has plenty of space to run about and live the rest of her days out peacefully by the fireside, WM Quote Link to post
matt1979 766
Fair enough WM understand where you coming from and sorry the pup didn't live up to his dad joe, but as you say it's a bit of a lottery especially with lurchers. Not sure col has had a great deal of joy with joes offspring to be honest which probably backs up your point, as from what my oldman says he is a good dog. Atb in your search for a runner will pass on you regards out with my oldman latter in the week for a wander cheers Edited February 17, 2016 by matt1979 1 Quote Link to post

Plucky1 1,119
Pups look well looked after,i hope you like what you see when you get there mate as its a good drive out for nothing if not mate.atb but i think i would be tempted for a deerhoundx if you are propeared to wait. I've driven further and not liked what I seen,2 years ago I drove up to cocker mouth ,cumbria, dog was crap and the lad a liar, turned around and drove back down to craven arms to look at deerhound/greyhound cross pups, they were sh*te and the fella a lying barstuard,we then went to holyhead,Anglesey and bought an adult dog to tide us over, another liar the dog was not what he said so that was sold a month later, nearly 500 miles in a day, left home 7am got back 8pm,so I do not mind a drive for the right dog or pup,WM Quote Link to post

TOM HEAVY 140
a lot of interest in the 1st X deer/grey myself, everything that is needed in a lurcher can be found in this gene pool IMO ATB 2 Quote Link to post
lurchers 2,882
Out of any lurcher that would be my choice if its s goodun, like i said thats why i ended up with the beddixgreys because i couldnt get a good deerhoundxgrey.i will always have a heart for them its just that this society is bullx or salukix mad which i wouldnt want any of them.theres not many people about that could tell you whats in the mix but would tell you what you want to here.
