Duane Aubrey 16
Hi I'm a new shooter. I have a self tuned hw97k that running very consistent now ..just need to work on me now. Anyone know where I can get a drop in kit for a 37yr old male?...I'm after one that takes the wobble out of the hold and improves trigger pull ????? I'm just starting out with a lot of help and advice from your own villaman ...thanks for all the time and tips you've given me bud.....top bloke right there ? I've got 3 kids and I'm an onsite 1st fix carpenter so whatever time I have left over is now dedicated to improving my accuracy and groupings ...I know this ain't gonna happen overnight but we all have to start somewhere. .I've got the theory down just time to put it into practice. ...learning to shoot springer first then I'll be getting a pcp and hopefully at that point I'll be ready to start trying for my first permission. ....I'm in for the long game..lol.. Thanks and looking forward to time spent on here 1 Quote Link to post
vizlauk 1,568
Best of luck with the shooting, the main thing to learn is to relax when shooting a springer; breathing, hold and control; once you've mastered that the shooting will become more accurate, hats off to you for starting / learning the correct way, welcome aboard, your choice of mentor needs work though ! Just joking lol; villaman knows a thing or two, that will also guide you correctly 1 Quote Link to post
vizlauk 1,568
Trigger pull on a hw97 ! 1/4 of a turn on the adjuster screw also makes a vast difference to the trigger ! Quote Link to post
Duane Aubrey 16
Cheers for the welcome..I'm tweaking that trigger screw out a bit at a time ..the problem is when I hit what Im aiming at i get overexcited ?? Then pull the next one miles off in frustration! ....lol I'm slowly getting there though there's a hell of a lot to take in all at once.... on the plus side I've got a walking memory stick full of great shooting info to hand when I need to know something......villaman does know a thing or two? I've chucked a tbt kit in the rifle and polished a few bits upand it improved the rifle.....would be nice if I could have one to improve my shooting technique??? 1 Quote Link to post

bigmac 97kt 13,807
First off welcome to the mad house and you will not go far wrong with Vman i can tell you Right rifle , Hw97k one of my all time fav,s once tune,d and polished there top class polish will reduce recoil a lot and smooth every thing out even the cocking leaver there should be no noise what so ever from it when loading the rifle kits for tuning I like the v,mach top class but you must polish the rifle to make this kit work good and it will need to be put over a chrono as it will be likely to go over 12flb if it dose then put 2 or 3 cans of pellets through the barrel and chrono her again and if still over remove some of the v,mach washers or cut the spring down a coil trigger As viz has say,d 1/4 turn to the left will sort it if you are pulling it to the left or right if you are pulling it to the right or just keep repeating this until you have the trigger set to the way you feel is right for you this will lighten the trigger take care when doing this as you could end up with a hair trigger Hold A spring rifle is very hold sensitive the tighter you hold her the more she will fight you the secrete is to let her do what she wants just remember to relax and let her slide through your hand . Once you have mastered the shooting of a spring rifle of which takes practice a hell of a lot of practice and are hitting targets out to 50mtrs with under 5p groups then i would say you have cracked it lol BUT a spring rifle will every now and again bite back just to let you know its still the boss You should be able to lift the rifle to your shoulder aim and fire with out thinking , think to much about what your doing and you will miss PRACTICE I cant tell how important it is to practice let me say it like this PRACTICE then PRACTICE some more then when you think you have cracked it YES, PRACTICE again Then, well you get the picture Iv been shooting since i was 8 or 9 yrs old im 53 now and yep you guest it i still practice even now, You have a long road a head of you you have to master your shooting skills first once that is sorted the next step starts FIELD CRAFT finding a permission to shoot on All the gear your going to need the list go,s on and on By the way VM is right ,when he tells you i know nothing about shooting spring rifles NOTHING AT ALL lol atvbmac  when you can do this , and with out thinking your ready , but shoot out to what you feel is right for you. Just go,s to show a spring rifle in the right hands can be as good as any pcp both 50mtr shots from both rifles under 1p groups 1 Quote Link to post
