dillydog 8,463
I used a log burner in my old set up, feckin she'd burned down around the dogs ! If it wasn't for the old chap next door I'd have nothing. When I do finally move house I'll have the professional resin floors in and take it all the way up the wall to. I used to use rust-oleum 5500, it's stupid expensive but good tack. 2 Quote Link to post
BlackDog1 134
I've just moved into a bigger house and the garden is perfect for my new set up. I started on Saturday and dug the square out where the kennel block is going. I'll be concreting the floor on Saturday and then building block runs with galvanised gates. I never contemplated a tiled floor but now I'm thinking of it after seeing this post. @dillydog what is this resin stuff like? I might also look into that as well 1 Quote Link to post

I might also look into that as well You won't go wrong with a tiled floor mate. It makes cleaning them so much easier. Didn't cost a lot to fit either, my mates a good tiler and it only took him a couple of hours. Got the tiles from Wickes for £5 a pack. 1 Quote Link to post

Most important thing to get right imo 3 Quote Link to post
snizle06 202
If the beds are raised do the dogs not slip on the tiles when jumping up and down? I have power floated concrete floors in some of mine and they can be slippery. I would think drainage is the most important as well as being draught proof also you should position them were they will get the most hours of sunlight in the day to help keep them bright and warm. wezza 396
The sleeping boxes are made from concrete block mate, they are lined and insulated. They are risen approx 4 inches from the floor internally so they don't have to jump and slip. The tiles I got were a mat finish floor tile and they don't seem to slip at all on it mate even when wet. 2 Quote Link to post
Rebel 833
My block I finished last year. After trying concrete and epoxy resin I open for a tiled floor and it's been the best decision I made. So easy to clean no more scrubbing concrete etc, a drop of Bleach in a bucket of water once a day and quick go with the squeegee and jobs a good one. We are starting my brothers block in the summer and will be doing similar, would be good to see some of your set ups for inspiration, Atb wez Nice setup wezza. This is my setup, I'm happy with it and the dogs do really well in them. I have lights and sockets in each run and running water. Their easy to maintain and keep clean all year round. 4 Quote Link to post

dillydog 8,463
The only thing I'd say about the set up above is the terriers would be at each other all day.I'd want a solid section down to the ground to stop them winding each other up and to stop legs getting pulled off. 9 Quote Link to post
