Joshua To Fight For Title

Recommended Posts

Hearn will have seen Martin as a risk worth taking, hes only had 23 fights iirc and has fought nobody of note so far. Got to give him credit though for travelling to another country for his first defence and against arguably the best Heavyweight prospect in the World .

I think this is the wrong move for Joshua, its refreshing in some ways that he has the " its just a fight " attitude rather than holding him back years for the right time but as an individual fight i j

I like aj but what a joke the ibf are.. Stripping fury of the belt and now a 16 fight man who hasn't really fought anyone gets a title shot against a joke of a fighter in Martin.. Eddie must have seen

Make no mistake this is a very brave move to take this fight at this stage of his career as its a difficult fight for Joshua technically.....his faults play into the hands of a southpaw.....for a punc

I think this is the wrong move for Joshua, its refreshing in some ways that he has the " its just a fight " attitude rather than holding him back years for the right time but as an individual fight i just dont think 8 weeks preparation for a tall hard hitting southpaw is long enough......Joshua is a big raw kid with faults that need time to iron out, even if he wins you cant then go back to domestic level so will them faults ever be addressed........its a sign of the times sadly where the promoter has more weight than the fighter and trainer combined.

Would the desicion not rest with the fighter/trainer in the end? If you can see that AJ still needs a bit time and is a bit raw with things I'm sure his trainers will see this also. Would that be classed as bad management if he was to loose the fight.?

Ultimately the decision rests with his management......and who is that....oh yes himself !.....sadly these days old fashioned boxing education is replaced by management companies representing a fighters sporting and commercial needs....." leeches " in mine and your language......Eddie Hearn is a boxing promoter he doesnt care about the career longevity of Joshua.....in some ways pushing yourself forward for a world title shot after 30 pro rounds is to be admired.......in other ways its running before you can walk and the person i feel sorry for is Tony Simms ( his trainer ) as he was promised he would be given the time to build a complete fighter and he hasnt been allowed to do that....he,s just an employee so now has to make all the right noises and do his best with what he has in front of him.....but thats boxing these days

Boxing is and has been for the last 40 years big business , Business plans over rule the guidance and fight plans , any fighter now showing any skill what so ever is given a couple of journeyman fights and then a couple of wins under the belt and the hype starts chasing the money, Boxing is an art, technique can be taught but the minerals have to be there in the first place, natural ability and heart mean if your good enough your good enough look at the Klitchko/Fury fight who would believe Klitchko held the title for over 10 years and put on such a diabolical performance against Fury. AJ is as good a raw talent as any of the fighters out there he could get in with a unknown and get banged out so he may as well go for a purse/title and test his metal. the guy hes fighting is not a seasoned fighter by any stretch of the imagination.

Personally I think its to soon.

He will beat Martin but I still think its to quick. 15 fights hes just learning.

Time will tell I supposed.

But good luck to him and if he can pull it off and defend it, well even better.

But I am hoping the haye v fury fight actually happens.

It's too soon but opportunity knocks, looking at the current state of the division I'm not suprised they going for it, think there's only a handful at most could give AJ any serious competition and thems the fights he will learn from maybe the hard way hopefully not like to see him unify the titles and hold them ?

Had they not took the fight they could of well seen him frozen out later on

He come thru a wobble again whyte and once he reverted too his natural composed self he put him away think he got a little personal early in that fight and it nearly cost him, beat stay with game plan and usual focus

Assuming he wins the title he should be in the driving seat too fight wilder for his belt after all whoever got the most belts is in driving seat for unification fight

It's too soon, he's just a baby. But, so is Martin. Both seem ridiculously easy to hit to me with little or no head movement.. Nobody can call this fight, each man could easily be sparked by the other.

It's a sign of the times that two guys with so little experience, who have faced nobody of any substance, are fighting for a world title. Seventies heavyweights eat your hearts out.

Holyfield was champ at 12-0 and that was against a better fighter than martin, it didnt do him any harm think about the experience he,ll get from fights at this level. If he,s the full package it wont matter even if he picks a loss or two up along the way hes in the big leagues so aslong as hes no major flaws he will be a force for 10+ years. Personally I dont think he,ll be the type of fighter that will go on huge unbeaten streaks anyhow hes a bit like mike tyson In that if you cant handle his offence he,ll blow you away with ease but if you can handle whats coming at you there,ll be plenty of chances to hurt him.

Have you seen joshua fight? He's a tall technically gifted fighter who has been put under pressure and came through by going back to using his boxing ability. He's nothing like tyson.
hes very much an offensive fighter as was MT imo offensive fighters dont go on huge unbeaten runs like defensive fighters ala mayweather, klitchko. Have you never seen MT by the way? He was technically gifted himself, I dont see what height has to do with it. For the record I dont rste MT in terms if the all time greats as fir joshua he has potential and im looking forward to watching his career Edited by JDHUNTING
