Maybe you should be asking the breeder, regarding dogs in its make up and what the line can do work wise???? Dont jump in and buy a dog unless you are sure its what you want. Is it of jeff Burrell??? dannyg 3
i think so Quote Link to post
Guest reload
i think so Then ring him and ask him, make sure you have a comfy seat and a few cups of tea and take a large pinch of salt with it. Might be good, might not be, i have heard of one being OK, but no personal experience, i think he knocks out too many pups along with a large amount of hot air and talk. Be prepared for the photo album Quote Link to post
dannyg 3
oh ok cheers mate Quote Link to post
Guest reload
oh ok cheers mate I dont mean to sound arsey its just my opinion(which aint worth much), but when buying a pup, maybe take your time and make sure you ask the seller all the right questions before parting with your cash, of course Mr Burrell, will prob give you all the right answers and about 2 hours of waffle too. He will tell you about the dogs in walshs lurchers and longdogs book, then he will tell you the dogs have been in his family for the last 300 hundred years then he will show you the picture of Colonel Custer with his dogs and he will claim there Smithfields..........good patter to sell pups, i know he tried to sell me one once. Take you time getting a pup if you want good stock, it will pay dividends in the long run I hope you know that smithfield collies have been extinct for the last couple hundred years. Saying all this, I am sure the dog will catch some game for you, most will. Edited November 27, 2007 by reload Quote Link to post
dannyg 3
no i didnt so what do you think im buying here is it probally a colliexgreyhound cheers Quote Link to post
Guest reload
no i didnt so what do you think im buying here is it probally a colliexgreyhound cheers It will be everything but the kitchen sink mate defo not a collie greyhound, But i am not saying a bitza is a bad thing, I have two Bitzas myself. Tumblers are bollocks( jeff will tell you otherwise) Smithfield aint been seen for hundreds of years. Basically what you get is what you see I suspect a rough coated lurcher, dont believe the hype and the adverts. Now if you want it for work ask about working traits and if there are pics, videos of the dog working or maybe if you can go and see the dogs in action out in the fiel.....? Good luck mate....Like i said do you homework on some of the more commercial dogs about, and you will see After all you want a dog to work for many years to come, so up you chances and do some research in to whats about Good hunting with what ever you decide, lurcher works great fun Edited November 27, 2007 by reload Quote Link to post

doga 50
danny just to add mate alot of what reload is saying is spot on because if ever you have spoken to the man he can sell a pup and will spend bags of time doing it,ive looked on his web site and all pedegrees have been removed i wonder why?everything else will be up dated when he is well enoughbut hes well enough to sell pups and at the price he sells them its no wonder.fair play to any one for making a little proffit youve got to were you can but no need to rip folks off, especialy your fellow kind.jeff will also bend your ear about other breeders if conversation arises hes no better in what hes doing.best of look with what ever you deside.
