Tumbler Lurcher

Recommended Posts

I had 2 tumblers, sadly only 1 now as lost one last year at just 22 month old. He was out of Jeffs steamer X merlin eve coursing type dog. Very promising and very game dog, was doin everythin I asked of him and more. Sadly only had a very short working life. If I could get another like him I would have one today. Ill upload a pic if someone tells me how to?

Lurchers... Thank feck for that post because all i've ever heard is negative and so the scepticism.

I'd be genuinly grateful to find out more about the dog, as i have a real interest in old lines and this line states its one of the oldest, if you would..?

Thats why i say never believe what you here as most people especially on here have never seen or had one.that one i got my son is off one of jeffs bitches onto a laguna whippet, which was an accidental mateing.i rang jeff when i bought the pup (£80) and he told me the full story about the dog and how the lad came to get the bitch off him and everything.he couldnt get his head around why the lad used a whippet as they were fast enough anyway so it took me some explaining for the penny to drop.but now ive been told jeff is breeding them the same way but they are pricey but to that i dont know as i havent spoke to jeff for a while and if they are as good as that dog in the pic i would have another tomorrow.by the way the dogs made 24/25tts the bitches 23/24tts so they are still a good size for all quarry.

Just wondering how do you define a line? As last time I had been on his site there had been outcrosses of husky and was there a gwp added? Now been on quickly an there is lab blood added,so how much tumbler base blood is left??

This is funny as none of you know the story about the husty but slate jeff for it when HE has never used one ove his OWN dogs but when a lad uses malamute or pointer or lab over his there is nothing said.jeff has never said anything to me about pointer, lab but im only going to tell the story once from what he told me.one of jeffs mates has some tumblers from him years ago and works his dogs everyday what jeff told me,now when his mate was out over a fee months he kept seeing this man with a husky and never let it off the lead from what jeffs mate had seen.so this morning jeffs mate stopped and spoke to the bloke to find out he was a vet,so jeffs mate asked why do you never let the dog off the lead to run around.the vet replied i used to but the 1st time he did the dog ran and pulled a deer, the acouple of time out again it did it again but this time the gamekeeper seen it and replied if i see that dog off the lead again doing that i will shoot it.so the dog never got let off again,so jeffs mate ask the vet if he could put it over his tumbler bitch because it did deer apart from that no other reason.i thought it was because of coat, feet, stamina but jeff said thats the story.

I didn't slate him,did any of the husky blooded tumblers go back into the line,my point is there's been lot of different crosses,so how much tumbler blood is there, is it a line bred family of lurchers,

or is it just a man breeding with anything that catches his eye,and the scruffy coated dogs are tumblers,

And yes I read that on his website years ago about the new forest vet.

I meant 'line' as that is how they are advertised FODR. As apart from in print, i only know rumours about em. No lads i know have ever owned one and I have never seen one run.

Yes bosun that's what I'm trying to get my head around ,they are spoken of as a bloodline going back God knows how may years, but how closely are they bred with all the outcrosses, internets a pain when you have to express it over a key board!

Like others on here ive never seen jeffs tumblers work and would be interested in the view of those that have, once spoke to him and as said the guy can talk a glass eye to sleep, claiming his line goes back as far as methusalah. Now i wouldnt knock his dogs as i have no experience of them, like wise Hancock takes some stick but i have seen some very good hancock bred lurchers. Suppose with the amount of dogs they breed chances are some good ones will come out.
