D Lloyd Red Filter.

Recommended Posts

Thing is for me, after using a filter for as long as i can remember, using white constant, all night, just seems far too..'loud'!

All i want a filter for is general flicking on of the beam, wire, ditches, gaps in hedges etc. All of which i'd normally do, if i do need a light, with either the filter, the dimmer or both.

The lamp i got off Dai is a cracking piece of kit by the way. ;)

You ever tried a red LED head torch bosun?

I got one last season and it's a real useful bit of kit for the things you mention. Plus saves battery on main lamp.

I might try one Gaz, not heard a bad word said about em but i suppose i'm just old fashioned and used to a filter.

The lamp i got off Dai is great but it still feels 'wrong' not attached to a wire, nor carrying a battery over my shoulder!

I know i'm set in my ways and slow to change! ;)

I have one of Dais lamps and as said its a good piece of kit. Tried it with a filter and it is fairly dull but ok for a quick scan of a field. Will be making my own when I get some red film and see how it goes. Got myself a petzl taktika head torch that I use when out for getting over fences etc and that has the option of a red or white light depending on what you are doing.

I always wear a head torch lamping now. . . .. bloody handy for all kinds of things, especially as it's 'hands free'.

I'm a photographer by trade so have my trust light meter.

in essense the light is 16 times ( approx ) more powerful without the filter and 4 more powerful without the photo filter. So using a piece of photofilter would give a red beam without losing anything like the power of the red filter.
