Jobs - Love 'em? Hate 'em?

Recommended Posts

Put a nice fence up they other day. Used one of those drills for the soil don't know what it called? Made the job easier. But Hod carrier for me is the hardest job, I like to see the fencing lads load out 1000 6inch conks, no chance lol.

When I was 16/17 I used to think the only job as hard as fencing was the brickies labourer. Mixing all day and dishing it out. Forklift does it all now so fencing is the hardest...

Obviously haven't tried scaffolding so.

Gobbling off........kind of bars are you working the door at?..?

I had a proper job years ago, hated it ! Then when I worked for myself you just had to work when the earner presented itself, this has involved cancelling holidays 2 days before you are due to fly, w

During the Autumn/Winter months,.into the early Spring,..I trap moles and honour a few contracts, to control rabbits/squirrels, etc... When the weather starts to warm up,..I go on the Wasps....   B

Plastering can be a hard job as well on the sites

Before finding my feet in joinery and cabinet work I did a few jobs I was landscaping and fencing for a couple of years that was fair graft but by far the hardest grafting job I did was a roofers labourer.... load the roofs with piles of tiles ready to be laid by the roofer all handballed no lifts then ...half the time we didn't have scaffolding how times have changed ...that job made me a man.

Been on roofs all my life nigh on, my old man is a roofer and so was my grandad, my old man had me on the roof in the school holidays... but we went into the industrial stuff,

It's a hard days graft on a big roof laying steel sheeting all day, composite is heavy and awkward, chuck a bit of wind in and it's a fun old job.

I'd set a target every day for us and regardless of weather we'd hit it, you had to on price as youd earn f**k all. Off the tools pretty much now, do the odd day or 2 to show the lads i still can (it kills me though lol),

It aaint for everyone but I enjoyed the hard work, I enjoyed the craic on the sites, scaffs, brickies, plastering any of the trades is hard work if you want to earn a few bob...

Yeah man, same as labouring for plasterers on site. I was feeding 4 at one point, big diesel mixer thumping away all day, barrow, bucket and dump! :D Was also laying it on myself once I'd got ahead with the muck. Good times. :)
