Mister Gain 1,764
I've had octopus a few different ways over the years, cooked in red wine, grilled on a BBQ in Cyprus, bought a jar of pickled baby octopus in the chinese cash and carry, but by far the best was the Greek pickled octopus salad I had last August in Nikos Tavern, Ringwood East, Melbourne. It was a starter but was a meal in its own right. The grub there was outstanding so if anyone's out there I would recommend this place. I would eat it raw, but not alive, really don't see the point. RSPCA would have a field day out there I would draw the line at the rat and chicks, and WTF are those fetal duck eggs all about?
mackem 26,264
Foetal duck eggs AKA balut, taste a lot better than they look, thats the trick if your a bit queasy, dont look at what tour chewing, supposedly an aphrodisiac but it aint.

tillylamp 1,830
seriously!!!......i just really don't see the point of eating anything alive! nor the need to, i think the Chinese are a bit disturbed when it comes to it, i find it sickening the things they do. I am the same as you mate, eaten loads of stuff over the years, from dog, cat, rat and bat to insects, reptiles, amphibians etc.I was in thailand last november with my kid when he tried scorpion and tarantula, said it was better than some of the tesco ready made meals he has eaten.Tilly, the chinese are a strange race. waltjnr 6,682
ive seen some cooking competition ,where the Chinese were cooking live carp ,put them in a smoking hot wok, then get them on the plate ,mouths still gulping ,gill covers moving,i found it a bit distasteful myself
Bosun11 537
Octopus would be no problem, live or dead, nor would almost any seafood or insect, though i'd give the rat a wide berth, i hate those mangy orrible feckers.
