DREAM KENNEL

Hi, seeing as the forums a bit low on crack at the mo, just a bit of banter...What would you be happy with in your kennels if money time and space were no object??

I would be chuffed with a decent daytime hare dog , a dog for murdering foxes on the beam at night and a couple of decent all round lamping dogs for rabbits , hares, deer etc. :)

what about you?

A hard terrier that didn't go to ground for the foxes on top, the same terrier that did go to ground for the foxes when you wanted it to :11:

Wouldn't mind a hairy hunting foxing lurcher, which I did have until recently....and a springer spaniel for the water work

:D lol@smallmouth.....on a slightly different tangent, i honestly beleive that two lurchers is enough for any man. IMHO in order to get the best from the dog it must be given an over-abundance of work, plenty to see what its made of...how can these people with almost a dozen lurchers give them the work they need.....im out all the time with the lurchers, but i reckon i wont be able to give them enough this season and i only have two!!!... :guitar:

anyway, the seasons here folks....the grounds soft....yyeeeehhaaaaaa :D

I say that as well. No matter what the money is, there's the same hours in the day/night and the same amount of time and energy to put into training and working the dog. The more you put in, the better the dog gets.

So, I'll have a decent dog or bitch between 23 and 26 inches, rough coated for no good reason except I like them, able and willing to take whatever I want to hunt however I want to hunt it (pre-ban of course) a pup to bring on, and maybe an old retired one to remember how good he or she used to be :friends: and bore everyone to death saying it.

Funny enough, that's what I've got.

Too old for a French kennelmaid to be any use :(

You definatly need more than 2 if one gets knocked up you will need another lurcher to double up on quarry with your fit dog,if all 3 are fit at the same time treble up,if 2 are injured go down the pub, same goes for terriers. :11:

I have to agree with Mr Darcy on this one, I am currently learning the hard way!

I have 4 lurchers and a spaniel plus I look after my mates lurcher, walking them is becoming stressful and I have not got enough work for them all, I trying to rehome 2 of them as we speak but they need to go to working homes, so if anyone wants a lurcher bitch let me know!!

Once I have down sized my kennnels I will never get more than 2 lurchers again, its not fair on me or my dogs.

Also working for myself means I make hay when the sun shines and unfortunately the winter is my busy time!!!

Your dog is only as good as the work you give it, my one dog in my opinion is a great alrounder but right now he shite cos he aint getting the work, plus he's just done his shoulder in and wont run for at leat 2 months!

enjoy your sport!
