keepitcovert 842
Mooching is not about big bags, its time spent working as a team with your dogs, ive watched my dogs work a patch of cover for an hour today trying to flush a rabbit from a bramble strewn ditch, using all their senses and experience, working up and down a hundred yard strip before it broke cover, and my dog nailed it. Quality over quantity any time for me. 9 Quote Link to post
terryd 8,451
I think a good nose and wanting to use it with out that you are not going to find a lot if the dog is just scanning the horizon. Mine is constantly winding hedges and testing the air. Last night by the main road just on a stroll he marked some cover I couldn't do nothing about it with a dog but in the future I have a plan that involves a little stop net or two But he is on the case 24/7 and finds stuff every where also calmness and just knowing what to do with out being asked so you can relax Edited February 5, 2016 by terryd 2 Quote Link to post

FERRETBOY 680
Can the way I hunt effect a dogs mooching ability? When I go out I often try covering as much ground as possible over a few hours. Then whilst I'm out I might knock a few hedges or abit of woodland. I think its obvious I dont give my dogs Time to work up and find things for themselfs and I'm the moocher and not them. I have seen nottzhunters bitch find her own stuff and I have noticed bull breeds and Wheaton crosses both be good moochers. Quote Link to post
