jukel123 7,957
Saw 5 hares chasing each other thus morning only about fifty yards away from me.. Could have shot at them and given the dogs a retrieve but it would have been unsporting. They showed no caution, they were totally intent on mating. Daffodila are starting to show and rooks showing an interest in building. Crazy for January. The seasons are definitely changing. Edited January 31, 2016 by jukel123 Quote Link to post

tb25 4,627
Also as been said the seasons are all messed up.do folk really hunt a few months of the year and leave it at that?.. Add rather take small numbers all year round than big numbers for a couple of months.. As said there won't be no grate decline from the odd few a week..just be more chosey with the slips..no season on rabbits eny how.. 1 Quote Link to post
Gaz_1989 9,539
I start around September/October and finish around March. And I still mooch daily outside of them months, just try to keep away from places where Im guaranteed a run. Young are inevitable now. Like you say, seasons are f****d up. If some lads want to hunt November to January to try and prevent killing odd young then that's up to them. But not for me. I keep dogs to work them, not so they can sit looking out of the window. 1 Quote Link to post

If you caught a nice trout just out of season folk would say.nice fish that well done. Not a single word of hey they are out of season now leave alone. Quote Link to post

tb25 4,627
I take in one season what a few lads catch in one night..what's the divrence?.. Shooters out all summer shooting hares,rabbits..why not take the odd one for the pot?./ I enjoy mooching all year round and god forbid my terrier pushers the odd rabbit out to the dogs so be it.same if a hare jumps up...hardly a butcher..lol.. lurchers 2,764
Im a big believer in breeding seasons as its called that for a reason.i understand the weather is changing all the time we dont even get 4 seasons now.but since i was a kid we never hunted from march to last week of august.but there was hundreds about then so it gave the dogs a good rest from the hards graft they did for 6mths.but nobody can do that now as there isnt half as much stuff about to what there used to be but i might be old fashioned.horses for courses. 1 Quote Link to post
