Doberman/greyhound

Recommended Posts

Anybody have this type of working dog? My uncle had one years ago and said it was the beat dog hea ever had! Fast and strong.

New to this game so any tips would be appreciated

Thankyou

Spent a day or 3 in the field with a Doberman/Grey a few decades ago,ive rarely seen a dog jump better,it owned a decent nose and proved a useful bunny and fox dog,Hares were more than a match for it and it lacked wind,id not own one.

I misread that and thought at first you'd said he'd had 62 lurchers and the dobie cross was the best one he ever had

Good move there Gaz getting two seeing as they're only half the dog they used to be.

Did you hear the one about the fella who went to the health food shop for ginkgo biloba ?

For the life of me I can't see what a Doberman would bring to a lurcher.

Guard dogs they take some beating but hunting. ???

Broaden your horizons grasshopper, the main reason for the versility of the lurcher is its versitile breeding, horses for courses, many a lurcher makes an honest guard dog.

I have an open mind old man ?. But a lurcher is a hunting dog not a guard dog.

In your opinion what does the Doberman bring to a lurcher?

as guard dogs go the modern dobermann isnt exactly much of a threat, genuine working dobermanns are becoming rare and even the vids ive seen on youtube with dobermanns doing schutzhund failed to impress.. a jrt has more drive and better grip

I remember being told a story years ago about the lad from the Boys from Brazil film actually matching one of his pure Dobermans against a famous hare dog.The dobie lost of course but his owner smirked as he handed over the cash to the owner of the winning dog. When he walked away to his car with his dog and the bag of money the dobie owner just punched his fist into his hand and his dobie killed the man and his dog and retrieved the money to his owner(who was still smirking). The man who told me this had no reason to lie.

The jrt is a beast ??. Yes Dobermans have pretty much gone the same way as the great Dane. Only difference is there are more working lines of Doberman than great dane.

They look handsome dogs

The bloke who broke into my old mans last year would disagree with you there I'm afraid...

And yes the JRT thinks he's a Dobe ?

Sure there are some good ones out there from working lines but had the displeasure of looking after a few dobermans a few years back and can't see the point in adding them to a lurcher personally. And to be honest my bouvier was a far better dog for their job then any I had the onerous task of looking after atb
