charlie caller 3,654
The police take the view (quite rightly) that nobody is an angel, especially in their younger years, but also take the view that if a man has had a number of years, without convictions, and has a job/house/family perhaps, that he is entitled to a second chance, but be clear on this, you MUST put down every conviction/caution/discharge on the form,be totally honest, and you should be ok,depending obviously on how you interview, when the time comes. 3 Quote Link to post
Welsh_red 4,711
Don't know how different it will be with a big police station but I went down my local police station and asked for my convictions . It wasn't that I couldn't remember what I had it was more the dates I wanted. Also my thinking was if I wouldn't be eligible because of a certain conviction they would tell me . The copper phoned the local FAO there and then and asked him . I was told to apply as there was a chance I would get it Quote Link to post

I think Charlie has it again. Unfortunately, when you get past the specific legal issues laid down for Firearms, then you will be faced by individual subjective opinions of different regions. SportingShooter 0
Give them a ring if it's not in the notes Dyktos, From what I remember, it is only convictions received since last grant or renewal. Definitely best to ring them and check but I'm almost certain that's the case. Quote Link to post

SportingShooter 0
I was told jail sentence had to be 5 yrs & over ? Atb Flacko Between 3 months and 3 years it's a five year ban from date of release. Over 3 years, it's a lifetime ban only overturned in Crown Court. Includes suspended sentences these days too. It used to be since last grant or renewal, not any more, I recently renewed my sgc, the form now asks for ALL convictions to be listed. Quote Link to post
