SportingShooter 0
Give them a ring if it's not in the notes Dyktos, From what I remember, it is only convictions received since last grant or renewal. Definitely best to ring them and check but I'm almost certain that's the case. It used to be since last grant or renewal, not any more, I recently renewed my sgc, the form now asks for ALL convictions to be listed. I really don't know why they bother asking the question at all unless it's for foreign convictions. It should just form part of their background checks. There's no reason they wouldn't know every conviction of every person received in any county of England, Wales, Scotland or NI. Quote Link to post

Just like in the Police, MP's or any profession I even imagine that some FAC holders are not as squeeky clean as the police would like. A first falling hurdle would definitely be not declaring a conviction hoping tI get away with it! 1 Quote Link to post

It's probably more likely to be a relic from a time when information sharing between police forces was not comprehensive and legally mandated, It's only since the Soham murders in 2002 that police forces have been legally required to share information with each other. It just seems folly to ask a question that you already know the answer to. What their systems say about a person is going to be the deciding factor, not whether their memory is good enough to recall all their previous wrongdoings. Quote Link to post
Lab 10,979
You really do have to put everything done..no matter how small. I renewed in 2014 and I put down no convictions. When I got my visit the FO asked me directly if this was correct. I said yes. She then produced a speeding fine from 98/99 that I hadn't put on the renewal. I genuinely never looked at that as a conviction. She said things had changed. So no matter how trivial if you are applying I'd make sure you put it all done. 3 Quote Link to post
Torquemada 288
Was the need to disclose motoring convictions around a few years back? I have a speeding conviction from around 2006 (although I can't remember exactly as it isn't on my licence anymore) and I can't remember putting in down in 2013 when I last got renewed. walshie 2,804
The latest grant/renewal forms specifically state you don't need to include fixed penalties. Is it different for Scotland and England mate.? This is straight from the Dyfed Powys Police website and I've checked and it's exactly the same on the Met Police site and the Police Scotland site. I think it must have changed recently. 1. You must not withhold information about any conviction. This includes motoring offences, binding overs, formal written warnings, cautions and convictions in and outside Great Britain, and (by virtue of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975) convictions which are spent under the 1974 Act. A conditional discharge and an absolute discharge both count as convictions for this purpose. Details of parking offences and fixed penalty notices do not need to be declared. Quote Link to post

The one 8,504
I got questioned why I omitted a traffic offence , and when I didn't said I didn't see the relevance the FAO nearly laid a brick LOL Quote Link to post
Alsone 789
what about past mental health problems, anyone been accepted with those? Whether you get accepted depends on what they were and the risk. Some conditions don't count (although ALL have to be declared). Others do. Of those that do, it will depend on type, your stability now and how far in the past they are / you have been stable, whether you're likely to remain stable. It's not an automatic no for every condition, but you will find it more of a struggle compared to anyone who hasn't suffered these, especially for an FAC, as they will be very very careful. Some conditions may preclude you. Quote Link to post
