That's a complete joke, reason been, I just got off the phone not 5 minutes ago to my firearms licensing team about criminal records and what I need to put down, in case I couldn't remember something from. 30 years ago, he said just put what you can remember, dates if possible, if not don't worry as they have all the information at their fingertips and can find it all out, and will do as part of the application.

So it seems, his information was incorrect, and if I have forgotten something then I may face prosecution, and no doubt they will deny telling me that !

Rabid use your mobile phone in future for calls like this and if you have Android, download an App called ACR (Automated Call Recording). It basically records every incoming and outgoing call and gives you the option of saving it when the call ends. I'd save a call like that onto my pc and maybe even onto a disk or usb and then store 1 copy with my Firearm Application as well as leaving one on the phone / pc. That way if it ever comes into question, you have some evidence to show you followed their advice.

Thanks, too late for me now, hopefully I've not forgotten some old silly thing, I did use my mobile, and could prove I rang them, but no way to prove what was said, I will remember that for the future and see if I can find the equivalent for iPhone.

Well the judge wiped the floor with me and it was a genuine mistake and a very costly one gutted that il not be allowed my licence aswell

I actually feel for you in some respects pal, it's not always easy to remember every little thing going back 30 odd years or more in some cases, it all seems harsh, I get the not giving a licence out, but to take you back to court........

Many years ago on my first application I asked about forgetting something that happened years ago

The fire arms dept ( Staffordshire) told me to go to the local police station and get a print out

Of all convictions photo copy it then attach it to the form I think it cost me about £10

Bit like today's crb check

Takes all the thoughts of hope that's right out of the process

Ha, I offered to do this today, it's called a subject access form, it costs exactly a tenner, but the police cannot do it, it's now done by a company called acro and takes. Up to 40 days, when I suggested I was looking at this option I was told absolutely no need for that !

Makes me wonder if they are trying to set people up to fail ?

I would think it depends on the offence and how long ago. There's a world of difference between forgetting a caution for something stupid 30 years ago and failing to declare a GBH charge from 5 years ago. (Not saying anyone on here has done that.)

You don't have to record any phone calls and you don't have to worry, you simply have to be sensible, simply avoid making a definitive final binding statement.

List all you can remember and then add something along the lines of, to the best of my knowledge belief and memory!

Simple!

Yes I did that, I recalled seeing something very similar on here last year so added it underneath just in case :-)
