Bill123 0
Hi lads I'm wanting a springer but don't no which one to op for I like the reviews on the imp and the look of a lgv what would you people recommend tia. Quote Link to post
jonnie bravo 572
Think this will come down to weight. Imp is lighter, but .22 only. I've shot an untuned 99 and they are very handy. The Walther is heavier but available in.177 cal, smooth as you like, very accurate, out of the box too so no waiting time. I like the positive locking on the break barrel too 1 Quote Link to post
Rez 4,961
Id get the imp myself. Off hand there just so perfect for the field. I guess its a calibre question, imps only appear in .22... Quote Link to post
Bill123 0
That's the thing the Imp is about 16 weeks waiting list and the lgv is on the shelf but the Imp do look the business Quote Link to post
Rez 4,961
That's the thing the Imp is about 16 weeks waiting list and the lgv is on the shelf but the Imp do look the business The choice is yours my man. Have a think about your shooting style too, the imps cheek piece is non existent, where the LGV is as high as you want, but has no depth. As I say, go for the Imp and make it your own as in little custom bits and so on. But it does come down to calibre. If you want 177 your choice is made. Quote Link to post
Bill123 0
Yeah good point never thought of the cheek piece and cal don't bother me tbh so I'm thinking I'm gonna go for the imp just looks good and small and light perfect for out in the field Quote Link to post
Rez 4,961
What makes you whittle it down to those two models? Whats the rifles purpose? Field, HFT and so on? Quote Link to post

mark williams 7,561
Bill, as said by Rez, "What`s the rifle`s purpose" ? atb Quote Link to post
threelander 81
i would buy the lvg myself as you can pick a 99s up pretty handy and fettle it yourself for peanuts to make it shoot very nice.in .22 of course Quote Link to post
charlie caller 3,654
Right, some good comments as usual from the lads, now, I have a .177 lgv it is incredible, all I did when I got it was strip it, give it a de-grease,and re lube it with some dr-slide on the piston and bearings, a dab of silicon oil on the piston seal, and some grease sparingly on the spring after polishing the spring ends,it is quite simply, the most accurate, smooth and quiet(yes quiet) springer I have ever owned, and I have had some belters, once you add a silencer,it really does make a dull thuck as it goes off, unbelievable for a spring gun. They are heavy so if weight is an issue I would avoid one,but they are built like a tank, and quality oozes from them, the butt pad is adjustable, so setting it up for yourself is easy, and they have a high cheek piece, accuracy is amazing and I mean amazing,I neck shot a woody on sunday at 44yards I could only get a clear shot at the head or neck, just a nice light hold on the stock, thuck, and down he crashes, straight through the neck, I am so impressed with this springer that I have just sold my pcp says a lot about them, there is a slight learning curve to go through with them however, they are so smooth, and the lock time so bloody fast, that at first you have to force yourself to follow through, one you have grasped that, the accuracy is unreal, also, and I have no evidence to back this up,but reports are that unusually for a springer, they shoot better in .177, the triggers are not quite up to HW or AA in my opinion, good but not quite as good, however Rowan engineering do a trigger unit for them, which I will be investing in and by all accounts they turn the trigger into something very very good indeed. I have never owned an Imp, but have tuned a couple of 99s in both calibres, they really are better in .22 which is why SFS will not do a .177 version, a very accurate little rifle indeed, but as Rez points out with a none existent cheek piece, and it is never ever going to compete with the Walther on noise,or lack of, and I am afraid, having stripped both rifles, the quality of the 99 is a very poor second to the solid, precision engineering Walther have employed, finally, and this is a personal point,I like a large heavy rifle, and I can never ever get the feeling that I am waiking round with a kids rifle with a 99, that of course may not be your experience. Which one to get, simple Walther lgv everytime. 2 Quote Link to post
