If you see any suspect lesions on legs, belly or even in mouth/tongue, get the vet to check kidney function ASAP as the dogs who survive seem to be the ones diagnosed early. Having said that, most lesions are caused by something else. I am in the New Forest where we have had quite a few cases now, so I am on the lookout for any signs of the dogs spending time licking themselves repeatedly in the same place as well as checking them. Anderson Moores vets are doing the research and have information on their website.
