RecoilReaper 8
Good evening Gentlemen!!! I have a very nice collection of highly tuned HW springers and they do all that I ask of them. However, regardless of this, I still feel that I'm missing out on something when it comes to PCP's. I feel as though I WANT one but do I NEED one? Thanks in advance! Quote Link to post

mark williams 7,556
Welcome to the forum Recoil Reaper As said RR we can`t answer that one but if it helps any, i shot a FWB Sport 127 (.22 cal`) for years and years (35 +) and decided after joining a few ranges, to go pcp exclusively and in .177. (HW 100 kt) After 2 + years of the lads reviews on here, reading, taking advice, having the craic i bought an AIr Arms TX 200 HC .177 (springer) and my does that rifle perform. I also complimented my kt with the HW 100 ks .22 and after very recently changing pellet with her, again with good advice from the lads, this rifle is now a top performer also. So "yes it`s your decision" but i have never looked back after buying pcp HW 100`s in any format . Good luck with your decision. 2 Quote Link to post
jonnie bravo 572
I will answer it NO lol but do you want one? Probably. What springers have you got buddy? There might be a springer out there to fix your pcp wants! Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
You wouldn't be asking unless you craved one, do your self a favour, buy a HW100. 1 Quote Link to post
random 659
If you want one to to get it out of your system or whatever and are in a position to then yeah buy one,use it see what you think and then either keep it or get rid depending on what you think in regards to preferring it to your springers or finding its not going to do anymore,if its not a keeper then you may lose a bit of cash finding out... Rez 4,961
Yeah, get one mate. A nice old springer and a PCP in the collection can do no harm. Quote Link to post
RecoilReaper 8
Jonnie Bravo I have 6 springers: HW98/95 Hybrid .177 & .22 HW97/77 Hybrid .177 & .22 HW99s .177 & .22 All of them are tuned to the max and are a joy to shoot. IMO the Airgunning press/media has a bias towards PCP's probably due to brands and the advertising revenue they create. I'm quite obviously getting drawn in by their marketing techniques thinking I need something when in fact I don't!!! 1 Quote Link to post
charlie caller 3,654
I have both, and have had some real nice tuned spring rifles, but this Walther lgv I recently bought is quite simply the best spring rifle I have ever seen or used, it really is awesome, have a try with one, you wont need a pcp after that. The one 8,480
Get one mate less noise and you won't end up like Arnie cocking it all the time Quote Link to post
jonnie bravo 572
Some grew guns by the sound of it then. Will be getting a .22 99 at the next op. I guess the only new thing you would get from a pcp would be something a little lighter and with a mag? Something from the brocock stable might give you something different, I hear good things about them no experience myself though Quote Link to post
j j m 6,539
if you need one buy one mate, but a good springer in the right hands is as good as a pcp 2 Quote Link to post
just-A-snap 1,269
To my mind if it was for me the question is not the need or even the want of a PCP Air Rifle, New or Second-hand, for myself it comes down to my family responsibilities and if the old pocket is Full enough to grant myself one more luxury. Your money, your want, your need, Good luck with your question, but I have a feeling that you made your mind up already. Just my way of looking at the question posed. I do like others sometimes let my Heart overtake my Head. All the best Quote Link to post
Merlin21 143
You do need one to satisfy your curiosity about them . i only have pcp's hw 100 kt .177 and my trusty fx 2000 .22 . both shoot as good as each other . can't be doing with all the that cocking it's hard work lol .... Deker 3,478
if you need one buy one mate, but a good springer in the right hands is as good as a pcp No doubt that's why pretty much any target air rifle you can find today is a PCP! 1 Quote Link to post
