Bosun11 537
Female singers... Whilst the rest of the world swoons over Stevie Nicks, i've always thought Christene McVee was better. I was the same with The Good Life, everyone fancied Felicity but my crush was always Penelope...

Blackbriar 8,569
I once heard a story on the radio about Elvis and that other R'n'R king, Jerry Lee Lewis. Jerry Lee was walking down a hotel corridor, when he saw Elvis through an open door, shouting and banging furiously on the bathroom door, inside the room. He stopped and asked Elvis what was wrong. Elvis proceeded to tell him how one of the backing band had had an attack of stage fright, and had locked himself in, refusing to get out of the bath....... Elvis explained that he had reasoned, begged and threatened the man, but to no avail, and the situation was desperate, as he was due on stage in 15 minutes. Jerry Lee thought for a few seconds and said to Elvis, "Why don't you let me try ? Step aside a second....." To Elvis' surprise, Jerry Lee proceeded to kick the door off its hinges ! He strolled into the bathroom, dropped his trousers and pi55ed in the bath !

Then listen to his first album again and try to imagine where that young, raw, wild rock and roll voice and atitude could have gone if it was managed right. His peers knew it, the industry knows it, Elvis was 'that good' but the world and his management were naive in what could have been...

The Seeker 3,048
Rocket 88 by ike turner was the 1st ever rock and roll song. Then came Elvis. You've got to remember before that all you had was ballad singers and crooners Perry Como Pat Boone etc, then comes some white guy with greased back hair singing songs from black blues artists. It's hard to imagine now but if you were a teenager growing up with "hot diggerdy dog diggerdy" by Perry Como and all of a sudden your listening to "that's alright mama" i can only imagine it would blow your mind. Also I'm a huge fan of Cash but yet like Jerry Lee Lewis was an artist to Sam Phillips SUN records label who discovered Elvis, would they have had the opportunity without Presley leafing the way? Who knows
