Tracking In Snow.

Recommended Posts

Went out with my lad yesterday up on the tops were there is 6" of snow to do some tracking.

Great following fox tracks or hare for picture purposes.

When we came across some fox prints Rex had a good sniff of them.

And followed for a good few minutes then shot down the side of the forest a good few 100 meters but lost the scent by the time he reached a stream.

I allways put spike on the lead to give Rex a chance to think a bit without being pestered by spike lol.

Came across another set of fox tracks and the pup give them a sniff and looked keen so I let him off.he followed them tracks nose hovering just above them and had a fair pace on glued to them.he was showing Rex how it's done lol.i was really chuffed the way spike was using his nose for a 6 month old pup he was glued like a spaniel really keen.nothing else mattered to him except that scent never had a dog with such a good nose before.

This area if an old open cast the size of about 20 football pitches and flat like a table.

You can see tracks very clearly.i would of like to carry on going but had to get home early

8.5 miles on the GPs not a bad walk.
