Abbeyfeale Harriers Annual Hunting Festival 2016 MEET CARD Sunday 14th February – The Strand Bar, Strand, Co. Limerick The South Tipperary Harriers   Monday 15th February – Walsh’s Bar, Knockn

thats true houndman but you have to focus on the good packs and stay in the pub when the bad packs are out. There are a lot of more decent packs that could be invited, For anyone who has no knowledg

you think they'd be more sickened by the ban? at least in Ireland you can relax and enjoy hunting with hounds wether it's good or as often happens bad.

well ladies and gents festival over what did you guys think ?

Sunday....conditions were poor for hunting....wasn't a great day ....bit of a hunt later on

Monday...conditions were bad again but still hounds stuck it well and got results on a day that wasn't favourable

Tuesday....conditions were very bad again...very patchy but hard to judge them in the conditions

Wednesday...conditions were poor in the morning but half way through the day conditions changed for the better and remained good for a week. To be fair this pack could hunt even in bad conditions ......a good number of very good hunting hounds......this pack don't keep the bad uns

Thursday.........conditions very good for hunting.......these 2 packs gave a fair display of how it should be done......best of the week IMO

Friday.............conditions very good for hunting........an example of how bad hounds can be...didn't know their job ..poor hounds couldn't keep a line....this was very hard to watch.......ADVICE: CULL

Bryan ......if your hunting is bad more often then serious questions have to be asked ..........wheres the problem..........hounds...... huntsman........remember one bad hound can ruin a packs hunting...............but if one bad hound is tolerated more often than not the kennel is full of bad hounds anyway because the owner cannot tell the difference.......breeding is important but shite is shite............has the huntsman got bad habits...........if your not getting good hunting...............sort it out and stop accepting it

the orgainisers of these festivals need to seriously look at the packs they invite as 2days involved packs just rebuilding there outfits an they were starting from scratch gathering hounds around country at start of season... it dont take an expert to know these 2days were going to poor as people give a lifetime tryin to put decent pack together...also friday sounded like a disaster....that is half of your weeks hunting wit poor packs... the other 3 days are well established packs and from what i hear provided good sport

yeah and we all know without saying what joint meet that was........................i just feel bad for those who travel and then see shite hounds............it could be a fantastic spectacle ...............what i fail to understand is that these packs are not going well at any stage in the season and then come down here and blame country, scent, weather and everything else they can think of but go home knowing the truth

i couldnt agree with you more foxbolter, sometimes its great when you have two packs coming together that are both well capable of hunting on their own.

BUT having a joint meet affords some packs the protection of saying " it didnt work out, the hounds didnt work well together". if they had a good hound between them it would hunt on and the other hounds wouldnt affect it.

and if the new pack they bring are good then they make the shite pack look good

...........................sometimes you see the same pack back time after time having a joint meet with different packs and never having a good day, do the maths.

sometimes you see the same pack back time after time with different packs having a great day.........this shows that they can hunt.

The ultimate test would really be every pack on its own.

Hounds of the highest standards should be invited on merit and that shouldn't mean the most amount of quarry caught in a season and why even from Ireland why not England and Wales everyone raves about harriers why not see how English and Welsh and fell hounds do in shamrock country have anyone in Ireland seen other packs over there and what was the outcome

I've travelled to England and Wales and saw packs that would open your eyes. I'm a pure harrier man at heart and that's what we all hunt here and their sound can't be beaten but there are fox packs across the water that would show up some of the packs in the festival. Imagine if the organisers only invited the best it'd be some week.
