Bolting For The Dogs With No Nets.

How many of you do this regular these days ?

In my humble opinion it is the sport of kings and maybe the only thing left that we can legally enjoy these days.

Ferrets down, No nets and dogs left to do their thing.. Its poetry in motion when all the elements come together.

I do it when dogs are young or invited not something I do regular but very much enjoy it and when you have a young dog the difference from the start of the day to the end is unreal ! also I haven't got patience to put nets down

You can't beat walking great swathes of open land with a box on your back holding a pair of ferrets and allowing the dog to hunt up and catch or Mark a nice little warren and slip in the ferrets for a nice run ... I'm also very fortunate to have a dog that is sharp quick and has endless stamina that lives to catch game .......

Spot on Fluff... I'm also at the point of not using nets on hedgerows these days.. by the time you have laid nets and scrambled about making noise and disturbing runs etc etc..its easier to drop the ferrets in at one end and let the dogs work them up or out of the hedge and often a little bit of a dig at the end of the hedge with possibilties of multiples balled up stop enders etc etc.. the dogs work as a pair, one on either side of hedge and seem to be able to presurise the bunny into making mistakes and getting nabbed.. last time out on normal hedgrows with my mate we had 11 out of 13 without a net being used and only a couple of little digs.

I wouldnt recomend normally using 2 dogs but mine are definate partners in the hunt and compliment each others abilities all the way through the day.the old dog gives her catches to young dog for retrieval etc etc and they work cover together like a pair of book-ends.If one stops and points..the other flushes etc etc. Theres no jealousy or competition most of the time they just love being at the game..It really is Poetry to see the whole thing from start to finish.
