J Darcy 5,871
A dog is a dog is a dog, they all shit , eat and shag in a familiar fashion, how they differ is temperment, from a rottie to an itialian greyhound, they are only tuned into different vibrations of movement , On here you will hear my dog won't play this or play that, no he may not but just because he won't doesn't mean he can't or he wouldn't have , dogs who have a history of expressing prey instinct in a certain fashion on a certain prey animal are channeled to a certain vibration of prey shape form and movement, that's how dogs become masters in their craft , they don't learn by thinking they learn by movement of prey, When dogs have tuned into a prey item it becomes how they express themselves with us, it's how they bond , we become part of the good feeling of the hunt , for a saluki there is no better feeling than running , through running he can feel his heart his lungs, the collection and the propulsion of his body through his legs is as good as it gets for a dog breed for this sole purpose, so when someone says "my dog won't interact with me through tug play he must think differently than all other dogs" hes no different , he will only entertain the real thing, a tug item is a shallow replacement for the complete expression of his very being while on the chase , he still trying to get his mouth around something through an interaction with you, Tug play is up close and personal and difficult for some dogs born without hard temperaments, Bulldogs take to tug items a lot easier than Sakuli breeds it's all in how they relate to the world Have you trained many saluki lurchers buddy? Yes buddy , What ones have you owned? What way were they bred? Quote Link to post

J Darcy 5,871
This could get really silly now because there's is no way I can prove it and no way you can disprove, You don't need to prove anything, just asking how they're bred thats all.......not a loaded question..... Somewhereyournot 1,117
One thing that I see a recent trend is when people start dogs Young, then start having trouble with stuff out in field. Like hunting up, no recall, no retrieve generally f***ing about. To me this is perfect example of a young brain not being able to concentrate so all hard work you done has been undone and new bad habits learned. Quote Link to post
paulsmithy83 567
my bitch is bidible if i give her what she wants. thats a pure release of energy. work her as much as i can and when i cant she out chasing me on the quad. she loves to race me on it. find do this few times a week on top of work load she great. walk to heal off slip, work hand signals . sat after jumping gates/fences waiting for me. just a general pleasure. but and a big but if i dont push her enough when out she will rebel. its like giving a adhd kid e numbers and saying sit down in a chair for the day. it aint gonna happen. saluki types are the hardest up to about 18 months then when you can really stsrt to push them they seem to settle down. jist what i noticed. be patient with them and they will come on if your providing enough for them 1 Quote Link to post
