It's a really simple cure for aching calves ... Pretty much the same as shin splints ... Get yourself down the chemist and ask for a bottle of man the fukc up ............

If the doctor gives you the all clear then I think it's just a case of conditioning mate. Getting your calves used to the increased workload.   I've been upping training recently (mine and the dogs

FFS don't say that he will swear at you and call you names the nasty man .........

Funnily enough that's what what I did for the first 5 years, in the end I had to give in and see the quack. Turns out I have a collapsed artery in my groin. Had they found it earlier they could have put a stint in, but the length of the collapse is too long for a stint now. Not every bottle of Man the fcuk up does what is says on the label.

Plenty of cardio work to increase heart rate and the capillaries in the muscle bed will increase meaning better blood flow, lower blood pressure warmer feet with better circulation and less ache. Won't happen over night though atb

Im in a valley here matt it's all up hill starting 50 yds from my front door to the top 1350ft and about 3 mile on the slightly steeper slopes my lungs. stamina are great but my calf's feel like they literally sieze up and are going to explode.

Ive got to stop about every 30 yds for a minute then calf's feel great another 30 yds and seize up and hurt like feck again.on the flat is can walk for miles and calfs are great.

Its bloody annoying.

I would get yourself down to the quacks, I started like that with terrible cramps in my calf muscles. It may be you have artery problems and you muscles are not getting enough oxygen. If you catch it early enough they can put a stint in and you will be back to normal. It was too late for me and now I struggle even walking up stairs. This reminds me of a lurcher lad i know, who had planned on travelling around the country living off the land, once his kids were old enough to fend for themselves, but after years of smoking the circulation in his legs is so bad he cannot walk across anything any more taxing than the pavement, and he's fecked right off with himself

The disease I have your born with, it is nothing to do with smoking, although smoking does not help. But it is accumulative in that because you cannot exercise the other muscles in your legs they then grow weak as well. There is a simple test to find out if it is arterial, they make you walk and then feel the pulses in your ankles.

and on another note I don't understand peoples reluctance to see a doc that's what they are there for. Most things can be cured if caught early but you leave it too late you might not get another chance. Push them along as well as they aint all ways that proactive

A good few years ago we were on holiday in Devon and I thought it would be fine if I wore flipflops all day. :icon_redface: I normally only wear boots or trainers, and they obviously have a bit of a heel on them. My calves weren't used to having my heel flat to the floor, so they were being stretched a lot more than they normally did. We covered some miles that day and I felt fine till the middle of the night when I got cramp in both calves and literally couldn't walk the next day. I couldn't get my heels within 3" of the floor.

The family went for the day out and I stayed at the hotel. The only way I could walk was on tiptoes.
