Calf's Are Hurting Aching

Recommended Posts

Right I put a post on before about shin splints and had some good advice.

But after racking the miles up going up the mountain nearly everyday last week my calf's are aching like mad.i can't even tense them and walking doesent feel good either.

Sure some of you are doing a lot of miles on foot day or night.

Any tips to lessen the hurt pain.i want to keep upping the miles next week

What about stretching etc.ive seen runners sit in a cold bath after training any tips would be great.

To be honest I would take my boots and socks off and stand knee deep in a stream on the way home after a walk.if it ment I was good to walk the next day lol

It's a really simple cure for aching calves ... Pretty much the same as shin splints ... Get yourself down the chemist and ask for a bottle of man the fukc up ............

If the doctor gives you the all clear then I think it's just a case of conditioning mate. Getting your calves used to the increased workload.   I've been upping training recently (mine and the dogs

FFS don't say that he will swear at you and call you names the nasty man .........

I would get yourself down to the quacks, I started like that with terrible cramps in my calf muscles. It may be you have artery problems and you muscles are not getting enough oxygen. If you catch it early enough they can put a stint in and you will be back to normal. It was too late for me and now I struggle even walking up stairs.

I think you've hit the nail on the head mate and I didn't think about the oxygen thing.

But when you said artery it's got me thinking I've had ice cold feet for about 5 yrs and have allways got to have socks on.

Did u suffer from cold feet aswell.

Sorry to hear about your calf's mate

Try magnesium flakes. I do a fair bit of cycling and when my legs start aching I use these. You dissolve 150 grms of flakes in 5 litres of hot water and soak your feet in them for 20 mins. Sounds like a old wifes tale but for me personally it works.

I've been upping training recently (mine and the dogs) and doing a few runs up steep banks. It really hammers the quads and coupled with a big walk up the moors last night mine have been killing me today. But they will settle over the coming weeks when they get used to the increased workload.

sometimes it's just as simple as that, don't forget lads we don't do anywhere near the amount of exercise our bodies were made to do, so usually a few weeks of trainning sorts it out

I will get an appointment with the doc gaz.between shin splints and calfs bloody nightmare my thighs don't ache at all though.

I suffer with shin splints myself when I first kick in training, but again they get better with time, shifting a bit of weight always helps me.
