Waz 4,252
Deepest we've dug is 6m, couple of 5's, and lots of 4's. couple of 3m in a day is plenty if we are out the next day also. Fair play superman. Wish I could do a few 3m digs a day and go back out the next day and do it again. Sound. i suppose its ok if theres a few of you. 3m takes a while on your own, especially in hard clay. 3 capable diggers is better than 10 who scratch. No talking in the hole.. the goat 642
Sow....I hope that wasn't in the UK ? yes 3 capable diggers...me and a mate aren't the best to use a spade but young and fit enough to get there every time no matter what the depth. And even with another one of us a few 3m digs a day would be pretty good going. Especially in hard clay. Quote Link to post
Mudcat 95
About 8' is the deepest we have ever dug over here. We did get a mark at 16' feet this past fall, but thankfully the armadillo bolted! It was in a deep underground spring complex. We had no idea it was that deep. Sota 1 Quote Link to post

beast 1,884
every now and then i think iwould lik a terrier to bolt for the runners, but i read a thread like this and the thought of digging 20 feet puts me right off the idea. its bad enough digging to ferrets! 1 Quote Link to post
young man 225
When digging deeper than say 5 foot. Is the hole better circle or square? Quote Link to post
darrendigger 19
When digging deeper than say 5 foot. Is the hole better circle or square? square mate then you can step it easier to get back out imo, but just make sure you start with a big enough hole or you will be fxxked when you get deeper ?
