Somewhereyournot 1,117
Something Iv never done with either of my dogs but would really like to see a good day time team of lurchers hunting up said quarry. Quote Link to post
Wild-Bill 500
Used to do it a fair bit mooching in the day hunting fox and tracking. I've also seen a rough costed coursing type bitch with a good splash of collie hunt hares like no other. She literally found her sport whenever she went out never seen anything like it... But for the deer/fox game it was a saluki/bull/grey bitch, she was just so driven and eager to please. And I think that was key, I don't think it matter so much with lurcher what's in them as regards to using there nose, I think if they really want the game and really want to find they can, people don't seem to think that bull blood in a lurcher can use its nose, most of what iv owned can hunt for fun and enjoy it. Used to do a lot of beating and we never always used spaniel sometimes a good lurcher can find just as much as anything. We always took the lurchers out from a young age so they where confident and bold, not scared of bramble and getting stuck in. Seen a few coursing dog X bull/greys and they loved using there nose, it's a must for me and key part in my hunting. You can't beat it excuse the pun lol. 2 Quote Link to post
Wales1234 5,546
I personally love it ! It's must for my lurchers to be able to hunt my bull X bitch is a lazy shit but you don't rise much without her being involved ! Quote Link to post

Around here the hills are shite. Gotta travel for anything decent and I try sticking to permission these days. So I lamp everything or odd ferreting day. My perm consists of big crop fields with spinnies in them , some hedgerows. The one perm has bigger specimen on but they hold up in the neighbouring wood where can't get perm lol 1 Quote Link to post
BlackBuck 655
Best I've witnessed was a mates dog , bred from a Lurcher bitch with a bit of everything in it to a pure bull dog . This dog used to do stuff that would amaze you to watch . Best dog at hunting up a fox I've ever saw and had a nose like a blood hound . Quote Link to post

FUJI 17,328
Never seen one ? Quote Link to post
Gaz_1989 9,539
Best I've seen was also a bull cross. Owned by crackers on here. The dog hunts cover like a spaniel, if there's something there he's not coming out until he's got it or it's come out. His nose is phenomenal. 1 Quote Link to post
