jonnie bravo 572
The Kopyto relax one on ebay come without hooks, i see i need Jig Heads, what size hooks/weight would you recommend for canals & small river fishing, cheers. What Neil r says is spot on, just to add to that the agm muscle jigheads are a bit better quality still cheap as chips though, the south bend wire traces are quality too 1 Quote Link to post

kanny 20,667
Heddon or Creek chub lures are top notch... A little pricey but you get what you pay for. Edited January 7, 2016 by kanny 1 Quote Link to post

buster gonads 862
Well i went and had a dabble with a few lures today on the Aire and Calder canal, just to see what they looked like working, the rubber shads worked very well catching 7 Perch, biggest only about 1lb but enjoyable none the less, i was followed in by a few to and had a fair few grab the shad but miss the hook, i,d inserted a single hook in them coming out the back, a treble coming out of its belly might have worked better, enjoyed my couple of hours though, and iam learning. 1 Quote Link to post

Nice one . You get plenty of fish that just follow and not take or just grab the tail without hooking up but i never bother adding a stinger mainly just for ease of unhooking . I dont know if you did it but never ignore the inside margins , even if it looks like theres nothing there . The amount of perch and pike you can catch with the lure virtually touching the side is surprising and the speed a pike will hit your lure under your feet as you go to lift it out will make you jump . It happens so quick sometimes , it doesnt register straight away , one second your looking at the lure and then its not there Quote Link to post
buster gonads 862
I always have my first and last cast,s down the edge Neil, just incase, didnt work yesterday though, and your right about adding another hook, it would be a pain getting it out of the landing net, i think i,ll stick with things as the are for now.
