Lenmcharristar 9,906
However you look at it, it's wrong hunting an animal that size with a bow if you don't need to. Bow hunting should be reserved for native people maintaining a traditional way of life, not immigrants who don't need to do it. There is no justification other than that idiot boasting he's dropped a bison with an airbow, so what? Native American Indians did it with real bows and from horseback sometimes. Bow hunting for fun, trophies or just because you can is wrong on every level. Ever had to have a pet put down? How would you feel if the vet said "drown it or strangle it, bash the skull in with a hammer?" Lads that havnt shot these modern bows dont realise the power that they drive the arrows at. a broadhead arrow cuts through lungs and heart, and light bone like a blade, with a crosshead type arrow head thats two blades cutting a 2" x through the target area. as with rifle shooting its all about shot placement. i have shot targets with a bow, but never hunted , but would like to try it if it was legal here. Yes perhaps you would, and so would I, but on a rabbit or similar sized quarry,or even deer, but not a fecking great Bison, (if we had them here) those I would shoot with a rifle.it's how they were hunted for thousands of years along with mammoth, giant sloth and many other ice age fauna, so what's wrong with it now, too many these days turning their back on the very gifts god gave us to get where we are today

For what it's worth I wouldn't legalise it in the UK..numpties with no skills would just go out and buy hunting bows and go out taking pot shots...but...if I knew someone who had the skills and just went and did his own thing then fair play, I wouldn't claim to be more progressed
mackem 27,536
I got jim shockeys Monster Moose DVD yesterday as an early fathers day present,he has an incredible fly-in fly-out hunting lodge in the Yukon, took 5 guys with him to record, film, and get sound for the hunt, called a huge moose in up to 26 yards then passed his bow back to one of his lackeys, asked for his rifle, and shot the moose with a muzzle loader.
