Fat-Ferret 857
A FANTASTIC writer summed it up perfectly.... There are dogs that go out with ferrets, and there are ferreting dogs. 7 Quote Link to post

Somewhereyournot 1,117
If I was strictly ferreting I'd get a collies grey x whippet. Not to say they would be handy on the lamp too. 2 Quote Link to post

Gaz_1989 9,539
My brindle bitch is a good ferreting bitch. Reliable marker, very patient, has a knack of being in the right place at the right time. She's just lurcher to lurcher really. Deerhound/collie/whippet/greyhound, 24" tts. I don't think breeding is as important as schooling. Most lurchers given plenty of time in the field could make a handy ferreting dog I reckon. Something 22"-24" with a splash of collie and whippet would be my preference. 3 Quote Link to post

terryd 8,662
if you want a good ferreting dog you can't rule out any gundog, terrier, collie and obviously lurchers in all there shapes or any dog really. The real good ones can come in any shape. That leads on to the next question what makes a good ferreting dog and that will depend on what each person expects. For me putting them to ground and marking any thing else is a bonus Edited January 9, 2016 by terryd Quote Link to post
