steg 609
Just purchased a new weihrauch hw100kt with the laminate adjustable stock..I would like to team this up with the hawke airmax 30 sf 4-16×50 scope with sportsmatch 2 piece mounts. Now by my calculations going off sportsmatch's way of working out barrel/scope clearance if I get the medium mounts i should get a 1.5mm barrel/scope clearance at the objective lens and if i get the high mounts i should get a 7.5mm barrel/scope clearance. Now I'd like to keep the scope as tight to the barrel as possible(without touching of course). Anybody else with the above combos?..any advice would be much appreciated before i splash some hard earned cash on the wrong mounts! Apologies for any late replies.. (new member..and not got my 5 posts in yet) atb. 1 Quote Link to post
Rez 4,961
I would get the medium set mate, I don't know but I would be confident in them being as low as you can go with a 50 objective lens. 1.5 mil clearance is just about perfect. 2 Quote Link to post

As mark mentioned, bloody RFD would tell best. Your 56 Hawke did fit on mine with medium mounts Mac. 1 Quote Link to post

steg 609
Thanks for the replies so far..got the hawke catalogue and the 50mm airmax scope has a 57mm total diameter objective lens..still capable with the medium sportsmatch mounts.. (with sportsmatch calculations on paper that is!) Mmm??..£20ish gamble on 1.5mm clearance?? Looking promising so far...atb. Quote Link to post
VWman 232
I have Nikon Pro Staff 50mm and a sportsmatch one piece high mount on a hw100 FSB and there looks to be about 5mm gap. The Nikon has a 30 mm tube. It says high for 50mm scope on the sportsmatch web site. The shroud on the fsb is bigger than the barrel on my hw100kt so there could be some room for it to be a bit closer but it looks good and zero's in fine. The lens cap on a Nikon is about 2 mm thick so there has to be enough room for that to fit on. If you got the medium and it was tight you could always pack it up with a one piece bridge but they are not cheap. Quote Link to post
charlie caller 3,654
I think mate, you will find the prostaff has a 1" tube, mine has anyway. Quote Link to post
philpot 5,068
On my HW100KT I have a Hawke Varmint 4-16x44 which is actually 50mm outside diameter. I used standard Hawke mounts but recently fitted high mounts to take an add-on NV unit which gives me 15mm clearance from the barrel. In fact I didn't need the high mounts so will be switching back to standard but cant give you the gap but would have thought standard mounts would be fine.Looking at mine, I recon you will get a 3-5mm clearance approx. Phil You have a 1" tube ,the Airmax SF 30 has a 30mm tube , High mounts are better for hunting ,you can get a little bit more distance . Check it out on chair gun and you will see the difference Quote Link to post
philpot 5,068
Okay, I will leave the high mounts on Mitch. Quote Link to post

If your maths is correct 1.5mm clearance is good, in principle that will give you easier shooting than a scope 7.5mm above. So if your confident I suggest you get those.
