I just mentioned the eating of pups as part of the example. Screaming on the lead, grabbing everything that moves and killing small dogs and pups are all traits some purists would associate with curs.

Not at all, some game dogs scream on the lead, kill small dogs, attack people, howl in pain, turn in bouts etc....

I think theres a lot of romanticism in the history of game dogs tbh. It's a gamblers sport and with money can come lies.

 

Some would strive for that 'hot' blood, Neil. I know of two very well bred pups that met recently. Similar age, bred by the same kennels but completely different acting

 

One was hot and taking full bites and wouldnt stop pestering, the other was much more chilled, actually ran away quite a lot and only occasionally fought back. One nips all the time and the other has still not even nipped human flesh. One is very independant and one loves nothing more than following its owner around

 

each owner is very happy with their own, but also admires the others' too.

 

 

I can neither agree or disagree if eating pups makes them curs. I just thought it'd be nice to highlight that not all bulls have even similar traits at times

What would you suggest we compare the EBT too ?

Jack Russells maybe ? I would think that a lot of the best Russells out there are gamer than the best EBTs.

The EBT is a bull type so why not compare them to others.

If you're happy with your EBT then that's all that you need to worry about, but, if you think you have the cream then that's wide open to debate.

 

The reason I always get carried away with these debates is because I hate to see good breeds being insulted by those who keep sooners and say their curs are the best. That's when it's time for the truth.

 

As for pig dogs ?

Just my observation but if I hunted pig with my dogs I'd use curs. IMO full on game dogs would have a short life as they're nearly always going up hill.

I read some of Reg Carrs books on pig hunting and he states that the best pig dog he had was a Boxer X Labrador he got from a dogs home !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Says a lot IMO.

Because these EBT threads have been done to death on here over the years...just do a search there must be a ton of similar threads...and those on here that did work them and to a man didnt rate them and moved onto other types are no doubt sick of posting the same old pictures...and the one thing those threads had in common... they all would appear when a breeder had a litter on the ground.

The thread wasn't to compare the EBT to anything it was to have a look at it hunting and how it crossed into other dogs you jump on any EBT comment and start bringing up pit bulls when that isn't what's being discussed

I might be wrong but I don't remember anyone asking if the EBT was as game as a pitbull it was just a thread about the EBT hunting and what it's crosses we're like then people jump on the thread and start all the a pitbull is the hardest dog ever and my dad could beat your dad up rubbish
