As i said at the begining of the thred, the EBT is a creation for the show bench, no if's but's or maybe's. In comparison to a game bred bulldog the breed is almost a none starter BUT when used in the mix with either lurchers or working terriers the resulting progeny are, in the main, very good..!

And, they are just about the most striking breed there is, so if someone fancys sommat different and they do their homework, then why not. You could do a lot worse... Could you?

The Red Hand of Ulster, The Gallent Hendrix, both pure breds. Ch. Psycho, Ch.Stormer, Ch. Marvin all part EBT and Frisco Sport who was half EBT and won ten shows in the fast lane in America in the 20s.

Would I touch that blood nowadays ???????????

I might be mad, but, I'm not that mad !!!!!!!

Let's be honest though, the EBT cross shouldn't be found wanting on any legal British quarry. Even the mighty APBT won't always have it's own way against certain foes....

So you're saying that in the field the EBT is gamer than the APBT.

IMO thankfully those days are gone but also IMO that statement proves that you have absolutely no idea about strongdogs.

There's an old saying, it's better to keep your mouth shut and be thought of as a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt.

Are you brain-dead or what? Where have I said the EBT is gamer than the APBT you pudding?

I'm confused , you said the EBT shouldn't be found wanting........then you said the APBT wont always have it's own way ????

And what sort of pudding do you mean ? I hope not banana, I hate banana pudding.

Think about it, I know the EBT can't hold a candle to the APBT.

A Pecan pudding, cos you're nuts....

There is something unique to the EBT. I have been reading and enjoying this topic but don't think anyone has mentioned it yet. If they have then my mistake. The shape of the head. It wasn't a feature that Hinks developed but came later. As regards the various tasks that the EBT has been used for over the years is the unique head shape an advantage or a disadvantage in relation to it's peers, in a situation where everything else is equal ?

I'm not knocking the EBT. I have yet to meet one that I didn't want to take home. In an ideal world it's a breed of dog that I would have liked to have owned. My 1st encounter with the breed was an individual that lived close to an A road that I used to cycle to school on. Sometimes he would get out on his own and just sit in the middle of the road. Would not budge. All traffic had to drive around him. F##k knows why he did that but he would stay put until eventually the police turned up and dragged his owner out of bed to put a lead on him. I always had stay to watch and got the strap a few times for being late for school. Turpin was his name.

My brother in law owned a EBT dog 30 years ago called Bruce he made Bill Sykes dog Bullseye look like a Lapdog

This dog would roam the streets not bothering another dog but would end their life if challenged

One of his own pups aged about 8 weeks of age jumped up on him to play Bruce ate all of the pup.

Everyones entitled to their opinion but a lot of the traits that ye are mentioning ,ie. eating pups etc, are often traits associated with curs.

It's not a good trait in any dog but game dogs eat puppies as well

so have working terriers and greyhounds

Exactly mate it's just something some dogs do its not a sign of gameness or being a cur

Richard Stratton the Pitbull writer is of the belief that the Pitbull is the original Bulldog and that there's confusion regarding the breed's naming. He thinks Bull and Terriers' were the name of the Bullterrier at one point in history, interesting point....
