neil cooney 10,416
bit of reading for the interested... http://canineheritage.weebly.com/english-bull-terrier.html Yokel WELL , you learn something new every day. I didn't know Mr Hinks was Irish ! So, the ENGLISH bull terrier is an IRISH dream, what can I say lads, . Funny enough, the reason that's usually given for the Munster area of Ireland producing the famous white strongdogs that eventually gave us Psycho etc. is that they were decedents from the white bull terriers left behind by the British troops when they left the Irish republic in the early 1920's. Lusitano 294
The EBT was widely used as a cross in Ireland for the field and pit... Quote Link to post
General lee 979
People seem to knock EBT because some Irishmen used them in some games fifty or sixty year ago that didn't suit the breed otherwise known as trials or read on the Internet that they are show dogs all the time ignoring the work his breed does all over the world 1 Quote Link to post
Hannibal 226
My dad used to keep pures years ago, tough dogs who saw their share of work. Not seen a good one for years though. The Aussie boys use them a lot so must be some good one s still Quote Link to post
Bosun11 537
I just think that if you get one from decent lines, or maybe touch lucky with a show bred animal (most likely with a coloured one) you can have some real good sport with a EBT. They aint in the same league as a game bred APBT, nor could hunt and work as a few other terrier types can but they can be bloody good fun. I just wish those who champion them would be a bit more honest about their abilitys and history. Put simply, like them for what they really are, possibly the most striking breed of dog on the planet and like Marmite, you either love or hate em...! Quote Link to post

Puredingo 3
Us Aussie boys generally only ever use them in a cross bred capacity....cross one with our Aussie cattle dog, tweak it until you get just the right mix and bingo!... You have the ultimate dog for all occasions in my opinion. 2 Quote Link to post
