leegreen 2,186
Hardly any decent Dobs in the country. I know of a breeding program of a decent line that's happening now, but I fail to see what they have over any established breed. Certainly not coat. 1 Quote Link to post
Tiercel 6,986
I always though a Doberman was made up from a rottie X greyhound? TC Quote Link to post
low plains drifter 10,690
Dobermans are greyhound and Rottweiler based, the only lurcher of this breeding that i ever heard of was a young bitch that was knocked over by a car when she chased after a cat that had ran across the front garden of her owner, Sophie the bitch was called and belonged to W. Davies, think i've got a pic of her in an old NL&RC mag, smart looker, i'll put the pic up if i can find it Quote Link to post
roybo 2,873
They have have loads of different blood From greyhound rottweiler Airedale ,pinscher and schnauzer.(or so they say) But any of that blood has long since need absorbed and unlikely to show. There is some nice working stuff still out there abroad but don't think I'd go to the trouble of getting it and paying £1000s just to cross with a greyhound, there's be a lot of other breeds in front of the queue. 1 Quote Link to post

gaza 508
My dad bred a litter in the 80s out of my uncles doberman. From the pics shes quite a compact little thing. Was decent lamper and took a lucky couple of hares on rough ground I think. He wanted to keep the raciest greyhoundy bitch but my grandad sold the wrong one lol. Said was the best dog he had but was probably due to the time he put into her and more about locally then. Quote Link to post

Bin lickers, that sounds about normal for a lurcher type, they're always looking for some rotten garbage to stuff their chops with lol 1 Quote Link to post
msula87 9
Dobermans rarely come up on this forum so I'll take the opportunity to do a little bragging on mine. Took these pics of my 5.5 year old male Doberman over the weekend after 18+ miles mountain biking. That was the single longest ride I've ever done with my dogs, and the next day they were already running around on our ~4 mile hike like we hadn't done anything the day before. My other dog is a 3 year old female English Springer Spaniel. Whoever said Pointers, not Springers, are the big running bird dogs never told her. Don't have much experience running dogs on bunnies, etc. other then the ~10 times I've take my Doberman out a night and run around with a flashlight like a fool, but I'd like to think if I could get him in front of some game he has the speed to make the catch. Love living vicariously through all your stories! Keep it up. -Michael 1 Quote Link to post
