Waz 4,266
One of mine has had the odd fit now and again, had one yesterday that went on a fair bit, he came round a few times but slipped back into fitting. He's far from a youngster. In peoples experiences does the fitting get worse and worse, more often? Quote Link to post
marshman 7,758
A mate had a terrier that started to fit anyway it happened a couple of times more and he pts , he said and I make him right I wouldn't like it to happen whilst to the dog was to ground . It happened three times and he'd seen enough to think it would happen again . Quote Link to post
Waz 4,266
He hasnt been hunted for a good while, earnt his retirement. Although he has escaped a few times and took himself hunting, gone for 24 hours once, going by his shit the next day, he aint his quarry. Anyway, he wont be worked, and almost zero chance he'll escape, but watching him fit... think I know what is best for him, me an him been through thick and thin. dytkos 17,819
Kidney failure often induces fits. Is it drinking/pissing a lot? It can usually happen to older terriers. Best of luck. Cheers, D. 1 Quote Link to post
mick81 275
Had a dog pts few year back of the same thing not nice to see if honest and I could not take the chance of him doing it when to ground so had to be done . 1 Quote Link to post
kirstysdad 827
Usualy in later years had it happen and if they make it to that age then they have been good hard to do right thing as you will have soft spot for them but can be distressing to all concerned on another note here have you breed from him keep eye on offspring hopefully it will be okay as dog did not have fits until old age but your call breed from bitch I had before she started fitting and any pups I kept did ok took 4 fits for me to make decisions 1 Quote Link to post
matt1979 766
My first terrier as a kid Russell x double made figures and started to fit usually after feeding and it broke my heart to watch it happen. It went on and off for a few months but they become more and more frequent and in te end my old man had her Pts the dog seemed none the wiser after a fit but horrible to watch it happen atb Quote Link to post
foxbolter 447
Once a dog has a fit it will happen time and time again best gone in my opinion normally happens when a dog gets hold and starts to feel the strain Quote Link to post

Dame92 387
My pals staff has fits. He gets prescribed Valium from the vets and it's got to be given exact same time every morning and night and it's stopped them but he will be on Valium the rest of his life. Or you can use a quarter of mirtazapien if you don't want to got through vets Quote Link to post
