I'd say it was just a figure of speech meaning a fast dog with a good mouth. Quote Link to post

Maximus Ferret 2,063
Hypothetically If you weren't after hare full time and just wanted the occasional run. No 3 out of 3 etc.just maybe one or two runs over a few hours would you concentrate on speed or stamina? If you had a pup you were bringing on would it be steady miles by the bike or sprint training by the ball etc.? If you want a dog that can catch then the entering is as important as fitness. Hopefully you hunt an area where there're plenty of them. It sounds unsporting but the young dog needs every chance so it's best to start in July to August time, running threequarter grown leverets so the dog has a chance and can come to believe it can catch any hare. Run it two or three times a week but not to exhaustion if you can help it. Whenever it gets one go straight home. If all goes well the dog should become very commited and you might want a stapler and a good vet because with open hedges and barbed wire it'll tear itself now and again by busting through when it's close behind. Good luck. Quote Link to post
