Butler 396
Humans run with shoes on and horses do to so why can't people believe that the right kind of boot could help a dog rather than hinder them... Quote Link to post
king 11,972
I think the only way them or any other boot would stay on a dog that can run at 30mph plus chasing game through wet mud and doing tight turns.would be to super glueing them on. They obviously don't fit the dogs foot like a second skin that ie a latex glove would.theres going to be a fit of slack in them at least. But they obviously will protect a dogs feet on Flint. But the question I would ask myself are they worn by greyhounds on the track ? Quote Link to post

They seem to stay on no issues.never seen him adjust them when out????? I think if you run flint or have a dog with feet probs i think there a no brainer really Quote Link to post

Ideation 8,216
Having recently had experience of running the heavy flint ground...... No dog will go through a couple of nights without getting gashed! If boots meant you could run regular and not have dog knocked up..... Why wouldn't you? Quote Link to post
Peppa the pig 0
My bitch cut her stopper about 2 months ago so went to the vet and got it removed she tried to stich it up a bit cos it was a open wound. In greyhound racing a couple of tenths of a second could mean the difference between first and last. If we are talking about effects to this kind of performance yes maybe boots might slow them down. But in terms of a lurcher chasing its quarry its marginal. Also reason you dont see boots is every grey that get raced ment to get checked over. Max might have more info on that. Foot injuries might bar you from entering your grey to a race. So if they bared cos of there feet you wont see them on the track with boots. Could just be one reason on top of a small time lapse to why they dont use them. Couldnt tell you about other injury protection??? Only know they protect pad and stuff on things like flint 1 Quote Link to post
king 11,972
As the dog makes a high speed turn the toes will splay a bit and I would of thought will give the dog more grip traction. Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,216
It's all just theory until you actually try though isn't it? 1 Quote Link to post
paulsmithy83 567
I imagine Mr Lloyd would have put booties on rather than breed a type with solid feet if they were of any use. Can you see a dogs cornering at speed wearing booties? Joe i might sound to be harping on abit on this thread but my mate uses the boots to good use on the flint. If it can put big ears to bed in daylight i'd say they can corner well wesring them lol funny as when he stuck them on his i laughed my head off. He had last laugh as my bitch cut all her pad and stoppers so had to be put away. He could carry on hunting. Quote Link to post
paulsmithy83 567
I couldn't believe the state of some fields down south, but the guys that stay there and invited us out manage, and that's without bootiesalot of guys manage there mate. I still run it without. But then i do get more lay ups Quote Link to post
