Popular Post TOMO 26,963
Had a day out yesterday on the tops with vin,,the moor opens up to us after the grouse are finished,,and it was nice to drop on a spot holding a few rabbits,,,as ever no nets,,just bolting for the dogs,,vin had his two lurchers,,and I had my young lurcher and the terrorist ... First time for a while I have took the terrier with the young bitch as she would always mug the catch whilst the young bitch got a hold,,,but she learnt now and doesn't give the terrier chance ,,,if the terrier is loose.. Cracking day weather wise,,not to cold for once ,,cos them tops are bleak,,, Rabbits were bolting well,,and all my digs were just shallow affairs ,,also has some great sport hunting the sedge grass,,with a lot of rabbits sitting out... At one point I was stood on top of a bank ,,the terrier pegged down ,,and Bonnie sat at heel watching vins two bitches working a massive piece of sedge,, he was stood a couple hundred yards below me in one spot,, and his dogs kept heading of in to the sedge catching and coming back to him dropping off ,,and returning to the sedge,,,in total I think it was 11 they caught,, great to watch.. Great day with 48 rabbits in the bag,,, 35 Quote Link to post

Guest vin
It was one of them days you dream about on those long hot summer nights... when your planning your next seasons trips out. The ferrets and the dogs were faultless in any way all day.. . Now thats not something that happens very often. I got a few clips and missed some spectacular bolts and catches with the iphone..One that came out like a rocket mid air and bounced of the old dogs nose and into the young dogs mouth.. If only Rew was there to capture it.a great double bolt with the young dog catching both one after the other..the ferrets produced 15 with a couple of digs to the young Hob kit off sock's jill and my Top hob..the 2 me and tomo had are looking good so far, propper little killing machines. As tomo said at one point I sat down on the ferret box and the dogs were working the sedge like a pair of book ends quartering in unison like a pair of syncronised swimmers..lol... It was poetic to see. they did find and catch 11 bunnies whilst i sat there watching them work together complimenting each others advances and not trying to steal each others glory in the catch,no fighting over who caught it etc etc.. One of them moments that make you realize that you aint done such a bad job with a wreck of an abused rescue dog and a pup you've reared and trained yourself..lol. A great last days ferreting/hunting with dogs for 2015. Quote Link to post
