DIDO.1 22,840
Thanks fellas, were in west lancs near the river douglas which burst its banks here, almost entire estate was flooded, strange sight everything being underwater. I live up stream of you, all around here they are continuing to build on fields that are the yarrow and Douglas catchment.....meaning any rain reaches the rivers...and you....so much quicker, without being slowed down by ponds, ditches trees etc
JDHUNTING 1,817
Tell me about it, I dont think our estate is in a clever place tbh but I dont get why they dont have gates to let the water into the fields after rufford surely its better to lose a few crops and the upside would be saving on fertilizer next season. Carraghs Gem 1,675
all the land around my house is flooded but not the sheds or the house itself, my stream is now going over the bridge as well rendering it pretty difficult to get on that bit of land now, wont know what damage is done to the bridge for a while yet, might need to get a digger in

trenchfoot 4,243
Spent boxing day mostly filling sandbags and digging out ditches and drains. Cellars flooded when pump packed in, but fortunately we survived relatively unscathed.

random 659
My mates parents were flooded years ago, similar in it being a foot deep and ruined everything downstairs, woodwork, wallpaper, furniture, electrical and kitchen units well you can imagine, one of the worse things I've personally seen in a home, turned out to be roadworks from the road behind burst a pipe or something and this house was downhill of it,the company responsible covered everything eventually but the stress it caused was not nice to witness,i feel for anyone affected because I've seen the aftermath, went past a house yesterday and saw an old boy putting sand bags over his drive and made me think... DIDO.1 22,840
I did a mouse job in Croston....young couple...I asked about the floods and they said they were flooded a couple of years back, this ment they couldn't afford insurance but as they were told it was s one in thousand year flood they didn't bother insuring again as they couldn't afford premium....the following year they flooded again...I did the job there last month just as they had totally finished renovating. The other day I saw their house on TV, flooded...I can only hope they had scraped money together for insurance.....3rd time since moving in a few years back.
jok 3,266
We are having it big style now. Went to put the chickens up and needed wellies. Thing is we are not low lying and there isn't a river course anywhere near. Must be hell in Cumbria.
gnipper 6,484
Thanks fellas, were in west lancs near the river douglas which burst its banks here, almost entire estate was flooded, strange sight everything being underwater. Only up the road from me and it looks awful. The drains here went over the bank and the police were out closing roads off.
