The general consensus is that the large plain patches on a particular individual denote the type. A dog with Blue (as opposed to Black) patches might be termed, a Blue Merle,..a Brindle hued specimen,..a Brindle Merle, etc, etc.. Whatever the result of this ancient gene,...they are all a wee bit different, in one way or another... 6 Quote Link to post
