Allan P 1,149
Just done a bit of research on the net and came up with a product called Mushers secret it's a wax product that you rub in and it forms a protective film on the pad. It is used a lot on Sled dogs as the name suggests. Has anyone used it before? Not sure if it will help with cuts or it's more for just for worn cracked pads. Quote Link to post

We tried some stuff called paw wax years ago, think it was supposed to put a protective layer on the pads, come in a little tin like shoe polish Quote Link to post

Neal 1,857
re which breeds have the best feet, don't forget there may be a lot of variety between individuals. I have three kelpies and the bitch has tiny hare feet whereas the two males have extremely tough rounded feet. Although the bitch's feet are probably tougher than a lot of lurchers, she still cuts them and slices layers off occasionally whereas I don't think the old male's ever cut his. Also, due to the shape difference between the feet (as somebody said above) when she damages her feet and is out of action for a week or two then her nails grow out. Conversely the old boy (now sixteen) only gets to slide across the tiled floor of the kitchen to have a pee in the garden and a rare walk to the wood (as he now walks at about one mph on the lead and even I can outrun him when he's really motoring!) yet despite this, his nails never need attention.
