TRUEBRIT66 1,567
Bristol City Council are planning to kill all the fish in one of the local parks to "deter angling". Please take a minute to sign the petition and stop this crazy decision. mackem 26,751
Report it to the RSPCA,let them earn their money for a change, there again there might be no mileage in it for them with a "save the cuddly fish" christmas appeal, most councils are dumb. 2 Quote Link to post
Lenmcharristar 9,814
Granted over stocked duck ponds get fish with black spot or once a disease gets hold can wipe out areas in no time, an easy answer is to stock a fair few pike into it and they'll balance the stocks again, but to wipe out an entire pond of fish life because a few swans have been hurt over 20 yrs is just wrong, again protection gone mad, kill everything to stop man enjoying harmless fishing to save a swan, there's more danger to swans from foreigners eating them than fishing hooks. If this kill goes ahead what sort of trend will that set???? If young lads get into fishing it can keep them from getting into drugs or gangs, keep them on the straight n narrow, but that seems to get over looked, why can't a few fishermen take it over from the community and show that balanced lakes can thrive once top predators get introduced. 1 Quote Link to post

Been tried mate, without the anglers already maintaining the lake it would have been shut ages ago unfortunately BCC have a agenda and the "friends of the park" group are antis. The clip at 20mins explains a bit more of the reason behind the decision they just hate fishing so best solution in their eyes is kill the fish, no more anglers ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9Wzfmg7fjc Quote Link to post
Flipper_Al 1,012
If the BCC charge say £5 a day ticket price, they can employ a warden/bailiff to monitor the water, provide education to people that need it(dont feed ducks etc bread) and to anglers on wildlife saftey Killing things aint the answer Crazy duck woman @ 20mins in 1 Quote Link to post

jonah. 775
He's a good lad, Alan Blair I think his name is. The urban banks series are all decent viewing, the one in a French park lake is another brilliant piece of filming and pr for the sport Quote Link to post
