rasp 34
By now hopefully everyone who's got some Putanges have tried them out & caught well, Knowing what us trappers are like have you made any tweaks/ modifications to them? Quote Link to post
smithie 2,443
I only used them once and decided not to push them 2 far up the tunnel incase it turns. Quote Link to post
rasp 34
Don't think it would make too much difference Smithie as I've caught them side on a few times, mine only go in about 3/4 depth and pegged down. 1 Quote Link to post
smithie 2,443
sorry I didn't explain very well. I ment the tunnel turned left or right not the trap turning over. I had 1 backfilled and I think the tunnel had turned leaving 1 prong up not on the tunnel wall but more central to the run 1 Quote Link to post
MAG1980 116
Thats what i do when faced with a bend set them on their sides. I always probe a little again around a bend incase its led off into a spur in that case i'll just trap the splitters you'sed to do it with the nomols before i got the putanges.ever dently i removed the chains off them and attatched the left over fishing braid and attatched them like on the putanges and its a vast improvement but still second best to the putanges. 2 Quote Link to post
Nicepix 5,650
If I find the tunnel curves I put the trap in on its side so the prongs go round the corner and the trap's legs are alongside the tunnel on the outside of the bend. Otherwise they go in prongs up. Another way I've caught is to clear out a shaft from a molehill and put the Putange in so the end is level with the top of the main tunnel. Not a sure fire method. But it has caught from time to time and in some situations it can be the only way to get a trap in. Quote Link to post
