Pup Watching On

Recommended Posts

My own time with a youngster is spent one to one and they certainly dont need to watch anything to know whats required when the time comes .Better spending time just mooching than on a lead .Owners that tie pups at a dig are usually the same not averse to hole ending ,a practice i detest where more dogs than enough are ruined but just my own opinion mind .

A bloke I knew came out with me onetime said the same sort of things like they get bored or make a nuisance of themselves only take them out when there of an age to be worked blah blah . We put the do

Pup watching on yesterday's work

One thing that is true, is that they learn nothing at home stuck in a kennel.

I never said don't take mine out, I was saying I wouldn't take a youngster on a dig. Every pup I have gets walked out with my little pack from 8 weeks old, they see dead game and run empty pipes and check little earths (empty) before they are old enough to work.

If it keeps him and you happy good for you, it's a nice pup by the way.

sweeping statement there mate " people that tie pups up at digs are not adverse to hole ending " lol a bit like me saying its people that don't take there dogs out enough as pups that are over keen to get there dogs going that will hole ending them . End of the day I couldn't just keep a young dog at home keep feeding him clearing he's shit up patting in the head . To me that's boring much more fun getting them out and seeing the sights and sounds be that having a dig or whatever as long as it's out the pen I'm happy ?

The only thing tying a pup up at a dig achieves is to turn the dog into an exitable screaming lunatic spinning on the end of its chain ........

utter bollocks
In your humble opinion ........
yeah in my opinion I've seen loads of youngsters tied up around digs that haven't turned into screaming loonys so I disagree

Seems to be some confusion here bud .I dont leave pups in kennels until they are ready .I walk them ,socialise them ,take them ratting but i never tie one at a dig .Dont tell me lads that do tie them arnt averse to hole ending as ive seen it .The temptation for some is overwhelming but like i said just my opinion .If you think a pup benefits from being tied and cant get then crack on ,your feeding it .

Yes but I've also seen plenty that have ... An already fired up youngster that can hear the battle underground can get themselves into a right fukcing frenzy and once they start with that nonsense it's a nightmare to cure .......

yeah I think we might be at cross purpose about getting a pup out and about then. And I'm not saying that people haven't ever hole ended a pup but was saying its a sweeping statement to say people that tie pups up near digs are more liable to lol .

Not that i do this mind but IMO if a pup dosnt get a bit excited at a dig then id say its too young to be there and if it does youve sprobably sown the seeds for a spinner ,squealer as no one in their right mind would scold a pup at a dig surely .Far better to take the pup quietly to an earth when its of an age and let it see for itself what lies within but again OMO.

it depends on the youngster common sense dictates that if a young pup is playing up then he's taught the error of he's ways or else not tied near a dig I agree on that . But I've got to say I've had loads that are ok calm until it's needed and then switch on types they're the ones I prefer . Now to say all it achieves socks is an loony again is a sweeping statement because it's not all it achieves .
