bracken boy 584
Some of the old day tackles was utter disgusting not fit for a football pitch but that was then .
Malt 379
Think its been good this year, really competitive. A lot if it is the talent the money brings to the table but a lot of it I reckon is the big teams f**k about trying to be too technical. The promoted and other premier league clubs outside the usual top 6, 7 or so teams are playing traditional British isles football with pace and power and It's causing problems for the big teams. I love the game but wouldnt claim to know much tactically......yet its always struck me how as a nation England have never played to our strengths, why when we play tricky highly technical teams like Spain do we try to play technical football like them instead of the old fashioned pace and power we are good at......we would all love to play like Spain and Brazil........i would imagine Carl Froch would like to box like Muhammad Ali but you do what your best at to get results. bracken boy 584
High tempo football with clean hard tackles with wingers running and beating the backs with crosses so pinpoint to a horse strong striker who heads the ball Into the net from 5 yards out sound great to me instead of players trying the impossible flicks that dosnt come off.
gnasher16 30,709
Much as we would all love England to play like Spain and Brazil we just dont have the talent so why bother trying its like we,re trying to match the worlds best with players just not up to it.....could you imagine Peter Crouch or Andy Carroll playing in a Spanish or Brazilian side no.... yet given the chance i think Andy Carroll would score plenty of goals playing to our strengths ( if he could stay fit longer than 5 minutes ).....we are at a complete crossroads as a national team we either have to totally embrace European style football or stick to what we have had success with in the past.....at the moment we are doing neither.
