walshie 2,804
I never thought this day would come. You always think you'll be young forever, but this year I've officially turned into my Dad. I actually WANT slippers for Christmas - mainly because the pup has chewed my old ones - and they stink. Christmas songs aren't what they used to be back in the day. I heard myself saying that only yesterday, but I had blurted it out before I could suppress it. No-one cares what the Christmas number 1 is now. It's always some tuneless thing by some under-talented manufactured x-factor person. You'll never beat Slade. My lad went out on Friday night, got home at 3, got up for work at 6 yesterday, then had his firm's do at straight from work and I'd gone to bed before he got home. I'm pretty sure I used to do that sort of thing, but now it just makes me feel tired thinking about it. I haven't got quite as far as having a "nice glass of port" before I go to bed, but I expect it's not far off. Anyway, to the old fogeys and the others who will be old fogeys only too soon, have a Great Christmas and enjoy. P.S. Don't forget to tuck your vest in.
mackay 3,374
It creeps up on you mate, and what really makes you realise it, is that all of the above should bother you, but it doesn't. Merry Christmas.

Mister Gain 1,764
As you age, you can never afford to underestimate a comfy pair of slippers. When I used to go carp fishing for 3 days and nights the comfy slippers used to come along too. Some of my best fish have been caught whilst wearing comfy slippers. Astanley 11,568
Slippers are the start of it all for sure ,then you find yourself comparing ailments with your mates in the pub ,every time you go to the doctor he wants to stick his finger up your arse ,you see a sex scene on the tv ,and you think " fk me that bed looks comfy " you repeat yourself ,you repeat yourself , every xmas you moan the kids get too much ,the tellys not the same ,you repeat yourself ,the family all sigh and yawn when you begin a sentence with "in my day " you think all footballers are overpaid homosexuals that couldnt live with old Klogger Arkwright who could sink 8 pints and still score a hatrick against Man U while smoking a capstan full strength , you repeat yourself ....you have loads to look foreward to mate , happy xmas .
just-A-snap 1,269
You only get one ride on this particular roundabout, do not even think about it, if you get up in the morning then it is a good day. I for one am glad that I have lived with and seen to my mind a better Society. So until I reach the end of my Ticket Ride the smile is staying on my face.
