MR TEA POT 1,287
I know we have all had the phone calls etc lol I have just got a cheque from a payout lets just say I'm going to have a very very good Xmas lol Just wanted to know with it being a sizeable amount would I get tax stopped on it? Also could I just send some to a charity or do I have to go down certain paths so to speak or can I just walk in to my chosen charity and give them cash/cheque?
walshie 2,804
There won't be tax on it as it's money you paid out in the first place - unless your payout has had interest added to it. You can just give a cheque to whatever charity you please.

Gaz_1989 9,539
Yep like walshie says that's your money to do what you want with. I've heard this PPI bollocks on the radio and had the calls like we all have. Thought it was a load of shit to be honest. But I've never had a loan. My missus filled a few forms in around the beginning of November, I said she was wasting her time. Turns out she paid PPI on a few loans what she had before we got together and she got just shy of £2700 paid into her bank last week. Ideal before Santa comes. Lol. Have a good Xmas fella ?? One of my missus claims was against an old mortgage on a house which is now paid for.

Lab 10,979
Just a wee word of warning. I think we all know these companies take a percentage of what you get off your claim. The girl got about £1500 last year and they said they would let deduct the percentage and she would get the rest. Wel she got a cheque and put it in her bank. She paid of a few things only to revive a letter for around £600 quid which she thought had already been deducted. Just one to watch out for.
